going around and killing people out of fun is a kind of RP, if you recognize it or not. Can you really do anything that not in some sort is RP? because it is a game?
Its actually just merky RP because obviously some people dont distinguish between in character personality and out of character. In that regard it *is* an OOC act to kill some ingame character, because you enjoy another human OOCly depriving him/her.

Don't forget the fact that characters are not to KNOW the difference between mechanics and RP.
As a player you can decide to ignore RP (or sometimes even the mechanics; time, for instance), but the character can not.
The character will 'experience' everything the player chose for her/him to experience. But the character can not 'experience' the mechanics. They use them.

- Every person lost in war is two too many.
- Respect comes from two sides and must be earned. Nobody has the right to it because of a title, sex, age, race or birth.
- What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
- I believe in True Love, do you?

I'm sorry... but that's retarded.
The world IS it's mechanics! You can't NOT experience the world.
The sea, sailing, walking, eating, sneezing, hitting... all mechanics and all things characters experience.

I've had around 4 characters die because I was RPing "abstractly" to certain mechanics.
I can think of dozens of times where my characters have been stared at dumbly because of the same thing, but not killed outright. Funny when you're just trying to get a little ambiance to encourage some good RP, and it kicks you in the face. People don't like their potato farming to be interrupted with story sometimes. It's a silly world we live in, cantr is.

LOL Wtf!? Sometimes I hear the stories on here and ask myself "Can their RP be that, bad?"! I have never been killed due to rping about the game mechanics... Only by people I pissed off, wronged, or was in the way of...
And yes some people do like to play for the soul purpose of gaining weapons and killing random people. It's a characteristic also found in there world. They're called psychotic or sociopaths - the criminally insane! lol
The reason, I think, that string of wording about the dead bodies was added is because it's a supposed to be a slow paced game but those with determination and perseverance and have learned team work, can make it a little more fast paced...

Game mechanics are always going to come ahead of RP in a text based game like this. Otherwise it'd just be an expanded forum RP game.
I do get frustrated by players who have no real interest in the RP experience though. I just honestly don't see the point... but then, 8 million people tune in to watch X-Factor against any sense I can see. So what do I know?

Let's put things straight. Some of you were making a big confusion. Me, and the topic starter spoke about "using the word", or the concept "game mechanics" - that's completly OOC.
You were saying that the "game mechanics" were IC, well...of course. But the point is that characters shouldnt be talking about it, at least not using the word "game". That is the OOC part of it.
