Pointing at objects

Postby Pilot » Mon Dec 07, 2009 11:02 am

We should be able to point at some objects like machines and landmarks as we do with buildings, vehicles and roads.

HEY! It's the first suggestion in... MONTHS that I don't know to be a duplicate.

ALSO: I agree with this.

I'm pretty sure it is a duplicate though... as I've thought about it before... which means someone else has.

I think it's that everyone has at least thought of it.
I agree.

I'm not sure what's wrong with saying *points at landmark/machine* ..But then again, this feature doesn't -hurt- anything, so I think it'd be neat to see.

For.

I get the ability to point with people/towns since they're dynamic....this, I just wasn't sure, since machines don't use dynamic naming, rather it's already coded in as an object..

What if there were for example two harvesters and you pointed at one and it only said you point at a harvester, when the point was to define which one?

... might actually work better coupled with that other suggestion of dynamically naming more items... :?

It would be a lot better if you could "rename" machines like you can with buildings, giving it a name/description only you can see. But I can also imagine:
2813-7.15: You point at the second carrot harvester.

Clicking the link would either let you rename it to your tastes (if implemented) or straight to the page where you enter the length of the project.

I was also thinking that a link to the project starting page would be good, but I didn't think of putting the link on the item name but rather putting something like (use) after it, or (in use) if it's already occupied.
