There's the possibility of banning an IP like...say someone's IP is... 123.123.666, and the 666 changes all the time, then it could just be made to ban 123.123.xxx, but that still doesn't block proxies. But since phpBB sucks I doubt it can do that xD
Ha, you have absolutely NO idea what you're talking about. Reading this almost makes me cry. (edit: cry with laughter)
phpBB can ban any IP. When you use a proxy, that has an IP. phpBB can ban that.
Lol.
All this 'computer IP' and 'internet IP' baffles me.. what the hell are you guys talking about? If you're going to talk out of your arses, at least take a moment to look up whether or not what you say is true.
Was a good laugh either way, keep it up.
Additional edit: phpBB doesn't actually suck, at all. It's quite good for banning idiots who have no clue. I've not only been an admin for several boards, but also set up 2 or 3 myself from scratch. They're fantastic.
Make me a mod, and I guarantee Wiro will never be able to access the forums again.

Returner...really? I am sure you could make your point without being an ass, especially when you are replying to something written two weeks ago. Now, if you really need a lesson in "Computer IP" Vs "Internet IP" here it is:
Computer IP refers to an IP given if you are behind a router. The Router assigns your computer an IP #
Internet IP= your actual IP
I agree with you about PHbb though, it is good but like anything else it has its faults, but anyone experienced enough with it know how to work those out.

Cdls, I only spoke that way because he was being a bit of a dick in this very thread, telling people to shut up and saying negative stuff about the staff, thinking he is so much better than everyone..
Sorry if it's offensive, but I prefer to be direct and straight to the point. If I was replying to someone like you, Cdls, I'd have more respect (in fact most of the forumers here I have respect for).. it's all give and take. But Wiro was making a bit of a fool of himself. And after he said that, it was a bit silly.
Besides, the computer IP is irrelevant, isn't that for LAN, which isn't detectable on the internet anyway? I may be wrong but I just thought the end-IP which is used on the internet is your IP, full stop. It may change due to being connected to a router etc, but it's your IP.
edit: btw, go to page three for said example of wiro's rant.

Your internet IP is pretty much what is relevant. Find it here: http://www.whatismyip.com/. Your local IP is usually 127.168.0.* or something very similar ant that is only valid in a LAN (local) environment, as previously stated.
I get a new Internet IP almost everytime I restart my puter, since my ISP (Internet Service Provider) use dynamic IP addresses, so it changes a lot.
