Not really.

That's a CRB. Football is a cultural concept from RL, and your characters shouldn't know about it or have the idea to invent it, just because you know about it.

Ops... It is a serious accusation. The ball is a simple artifact and can be built with the resources and technological stage of a cantrian village, but has not yet been implemented in the game mechanics. My character has kicked potatoes before and played with, all with emotes. He did not create a complex sports nor founded the FIFA. Would be a CRB invent by roleplay a dice game or a pencil or a kamasutra position, before it was implemented?
Cantr II is a social simulator. What is not working is due a problem in the society.

I see no reason why you couldn't invent a game like football or anything. But you'd really have to RP and maybe even change it a little bit. It maybe from RL but alot of things in RL are in the game already. I think it would just ahve to be RP'd right. Not just "hey I made a soccerball, lets play"

Besides if you give everything a different name it's just as good and not a CRB.

Thanks, Volt

Yes: a BALL - what to do with a ball?

I've invented many, many things that don't exist. From pimped bikes with neat add-ons to caramel, and from tattoos (knife+salt ftw) to paintings on walls. (And severed penises...)

Football-like games can be found in a lot societies and even "primitive" societies in our world, so one can freely suppose cantrians are aware of it as well. My favorite is the Atzek (or Maya I confuse them always) football like pok-a-tok. The objective is to get a ball through a round stone circle mounted at head heigth, without using your hands. The winning team has the favor to be sacrificed to the gods.

Or there is that other famous example, you may not ask me which island it was, often brought in as example when studying equalness. Also a society that developed a soccer game which is remarcly similar to ours; however, their social rules forbid a party to win, that is why they can only stop, while there is a tie, sometimes such a game takes days to finish.

As long you play trying to a round thing into a squared thing, I'd for one say its okay. If you come up with detailed soccer rules, like in contemporary soccer, its a no.

Yes, you are right Joo. In his post he actually says he played soccer but that is not true (I was there and I saw it  ). He made a ball and kicked it around a bit, that's probably what he was trying to say. I don't recall no "hey, let's join up people. You'll be a goalkeeper and I'll try to score some goals." He was just kicking it around the town most of the time. It also made sense, since his character was constantly looking for a kind of sport to get him entertained and because he couldn't hunt all day long and kicking potatoes was getting tiresome, he made a simple ball.
