Traveling issue

Postby Snake_byte » Sat Oct 17, 2009 8:58 am

I'm not sure if it's because the road is long but I have a charrie traveling from seatown to an unknown location and he's been moving at 100% the whole time and isn't tired at all but has been in the same place (77%) for about three days...

Try setting your movement percentage to a different numberand go back to the player page, then go back to the char page and put it back at 100%

Also worth noting that Treefeather is the only island which has the majority of its roads upgraded, the rest of the islands consist mainly of undeveloped paths and it's not unusual for it to take 20 days to travel between towns on foot.

The road type doesn't affect the walking speed and I've never seen a road that takes you 20 days. Usually it's about 5. If you have a wooden cart, that's of course something entirely different.

Disagree Pisc, i've had a long-distance foot traveller on Cantr isle and a large percentage of the roads they took, took 15+ days to traverse.

And the ones on Omeo are even worse.

Cantr Island has roads that go curvy and stuff.

It's hard for me to believe this. I have to admit that I don't do much traveling on foot in the English zone, but in the German zone a walk hardly ever takes more than a week. I'm aware that road lengths differ immensely between islands, but I wouldn't have expected them to be that long. Are you sure that your observations are objective? We all know how unpleasant memories tend to stick.

cantr island has one road which is about as long as 1/4 of the island and it is not a small island, also i know a region of hills where it is quite a journey going between each hill, a well food supplied person could starve going from brunoi to hilloi on foot

All of you seem to ignore the statement that at 100% speed, his progress is not incrementing, and that his character is not on Cantr Island. This has nothing to do with the length of the road.

Anyway, it looks like his character got where it was going...

Part of what explains this is the order in which it was generated:

Cantr island: I first had a rough idea on a paper drawn map of how long things would take and some of them I had curvy roads in mind indeed. Only later were the exact locations determined of towns - this was years after implementing the road lengths.

German island: the road lengths were automatically computed from the town locations, so are the exact Euclidean distances.
