Graveyard

Postby Idriveayugo » Sat Oct 10, 2009 2:48 pm

Ok, I looked and didn't see this idea suggested. If you drag a body into a graveyard you can initiate a burial project, but at the end of the burial project a tombstone with whatever you want on it is left under objects.

Project burying body: 1 day to complete
Required objects: Iron Chisel, Shovel
Required Resources: 400 stone

Have the tombstone wear away like a tool or weapon, so that if people are tired of seeing: "RIP Hot Dog I will always be your bun", they can let the tomb disappear from whence it came.

It has been suggested, it's just that search only picks up topics that were created after the forums were moved, or if the first post was edited after that. And 400g is a pretty tiny tombstone.

In Cantr that's about 1/10th of a church wall.

soo, the graveyard is some kind of "building" ? in that case, you can enter the graveyard, and then see who's in.
And it would be nice to make more types of them. like:
- a graveyard
- a tomb
- a wall with urns.
- a scrine.
- a mausoleum.
etc etc.

Well a place to honor the dead would be nice. Doesn't need bodies tough.

Markstones and the such only make a very limited use to make a dead character some memorial.

You can already Frankenstein a lot of these things with existing in game elements.

I've seen plenty of "Tombstones", tombs and mausoleums. It could be assumed that a section of town is a graveyard as you wouldn't REALLY just bury bodies where they fall.

After all, a tombstone IS a "small stone monument" while a tomb IS a "stone building" and a mausoleum IS a "stone hall" with "stone extensions". Wait, am I mixing up tomb and mausoleum? One of them is one room and the other is a series of rooms.

You cannot build "tombstones" (landmarks) inside a graveyard (building). And outside there is a 4 limit, and no city wants to waste a slot of these on some fallen guy, even if it was a governor.

Thats it what is very limiting.

I don't think there's a limit on landmarks, or if there was, it must be affected by the same bug that prevented building limits from working. I've seen far more than four landmarks in a town.

Yeah... if there IS a limit to landmarks then a LOT of towns magically broke it.

Otherwise I said "Frankenstein" and some. I didn't say ALL nor did I say it was "perfect".

Good idea. Does this graveyard have to be a "building"? All you should need to build it is enough stone, (or wood) for a boundary wall/fence. Otherwise the gravestones would show up on the main Objects screen for the location.

Make landmarks buildable inside of buildings, and you have a perfect Frankenstein creation.

I don't know why this is forbidden after all.

Well, with the way the current mechanics work... its either a building or not.

Well, this would create a lot of possibilities. I'm not 100% on how it could cause problems other then programing ones and sabotage. Although, I think it would be easier to remove a "landmark" then a building.

I think that may be the reason for restriction. The "landmark" thought. People might start wondering how/why "landmarks" are inside.

I think the purpose was not to pollute the objects page with the landmarks and signs. You could only see them by entering the graveyard, so that things stay separated.

I think it's a good idea and support it.
