The point of my post is that people are'nt born adults with a vast vocabulary or proper grammar for that matter. And nobody will play cantr if they have to relearn an entire language all over again from nothing. And I'm sure somebody in game is going to stop going to work or having a life to make a native Cantr language. So English, Spanish and all these real world languages have to exist there, even though there's no explaination why they do. Does'nt seem like it makes things any more unrealistic to accept parts of a language that were borrowed from another.

This whole discussion is incredibly stupid. If we are doing this whole knowing two languages is crb crap, let's eliminate this "rping" to learn another language crap. That's what it all comes down to. Not this whole "what really is English" debate. Noone knows what english is. English has two fucking ways to spell judgment. It's that fucked of a language.
But the whole rping to learn a new language thing is bs. I know this chick Maria for example. She wasn't any older than 23 in cantr. She claimed she learned english in her other town. This was total bs and she should be warned by Cantr staff not to speak english.
At the least, let's be able to burn people at the stake so we can roleplay an effective way to deal with these multiple language speakers.

PD doesn't go around reading everything that's being said and there's no automatic detector for whether a person is speaking a language he or she was spawned knowing, so PD will only find out that someone is speaking the wrong language if somebody reports the person.
Not-so-sad panda

Never said that staff would know without me reporting it, but really what's the point? Just more work for staff to do for something that isn't getting fixed. Most people don't know it's wrong to roleplay as speaking two different languages, or just try to get around it by saying they "learned" it. So until you guys have a set simple rule in place that everyone knows, this type of behavior will continue.
So do it, put a rule in. Quit with this "what is language" bullcrap and just tell people "don't speak two languages" with one character. People will understand what that means.

No freaking way I'll want my characters that speak multiple languages to suddenly stop that. I enjoy my Dutch/German, English/German and English/Dutch characters.

Believe there already is a rule in place for that. That's why you're complaining in the first place right? And the official rule is three years of contact with a foreign language is considered enough time to pick up on at least some of it. So if you see a twenty three year old speaking broken dutch or something maybe she did live in a town with dutch speakers.
