Please remember that you are never pushed to donate. We need some money to pay, but it is a free game. If you don't have money, don't feel obliged. And if you put a lot of work in any of the departments, you might also feel less obliged to pay (I, for example, did not donate yet, except that I paid the hosting for the first half year or so, but that was also my private internet connection). Nonetheless, all donations are very welcome and currently we do indeed depend on too small a number of paying players. We have enough money, but it is not a very solid ground if all finances come from a very small group of players.

Sico doesn't really read the forum
... But Thomas is right - Dutch donations are by far the easiest. Just transfer the money to giro 5589283 t.n.v. J.A. Elkink te Dublin and you're fine
... For as far as other donations go, my reply above still holds. International bank transfers are not easy, unfortunately (and to my surprise - how can international ATMs work so simple, while money transfers are so complicated?). The easiest is PayPal because that is how we pay the webhoster as well; second-best is using my friends American bank-account, although that option only works for as long as he lives in Dublin; in any case, the best is always to email finances@cantr.net and discuss an option tailored to whoever is donating
...

Euh, yes, I must agree, I have updated the donations, but not all expenses. Very bad, I know
... We have yet to create some easy maintainable system for the finances pages so that it is easier to maintain.
Indeed, it is 75 USD a month, so for every recent month it does not say this, it is the case
...
And thanks for the 30 Euro!!

Well, I really wonder why so few people donate some money. Quite a few people are completely addicted to CANTR yet few of them seem to donate. Thanks to people like XBL there is at least some cash flowing in, (30 Euro's is rather more than just "some") but abt 20 ppl donating 5 or bucks or more each month should eliminate the problem alltogether.
Say, how abt selling CANTR shares? for 10 Dollars you could call yourself "honorary owner" of cantr.
Or how abt sort of al top 10 of donators, with the winners granted a title or something? Or a boon of some sort? like extra char's or extra playing time?
That should convince some.

I think we would get more encouragement to donate if Cantr were closer to running out of funds.
With the winter holidays not far off maybe a gift to the staff from us?
Another option. Paying the programming department to get your favorite feature in or bug fixed or at least moved up the list. This wouldn't change what has been determined by the staff needs done but it might be more motivating for the programmer if there was a amazon certificate tied to a feature.
Speaking of which what is next on the list? A bug fix for something or are you going to surprise us?
Green Cantr T-shirts?

I like the idea of an extra char. I have 15, but want more! I think you will get rich of me, when you do that (have to pay more and more money everytime).Orion, Hunter and guide wrote:Or how abt sort of al top 10 of donators, with the winners granted a title or something? While that idea about getting paid for programming is very attracting, that won't happen. Cantr is a free game, funded by donations. And that's exactly what they are. Donations. You don't buy anything, you just support Cantr as a free game.
I've seen another game, where that point is excessively elaborated on their page about donations. Maybe we should emphasize that point, too? Or is it principally clear how donations work and how they do not work?

Somewhere (in this topic?) there was mentioned to make the login page red, when there's not enough money. And green ofcourse, when there is enough.
And yes, telling people what there money will be used for, will help too. Then they actually know what will happen with their money (and not only be used for a sunny vacation... just joking, just joking
).
