Just an aside: Most English speakers are as aware of that French phrase as they would be many other highly-used non-English phrases. For instance, "mano y mano", "C'est la Vie", "Vaya con Dios" or much used words like "kaputz", "Capri", "capisce", seem to be part of every English speakers' daily lexicon. They are not English yet an English speaker knows and uses these words and phrases very early on. I have heard countless non-English speakers use the word "okay" in conversations in their own language. I'm sure they consider the word a part of their respective language. *Shrugs*

Right but it's actually a CRB to use it, just as it is to use, for example, your favourite song lyrics in game.

Okay...I would challenge that if I were accused of a CRB after using that term in game. The phrase is used too frequently to be any more foreign than saying, "I donned my capris this morning and went for a walk down the Champs-Élysées."

Some foreign words are already such an integral part of the language you can consider them at one point part of the language, not foreigns anymore. Most of the words I used right now are originally either latin, german or vikings, who all together mix up, what we call "english".

I say, "english" is what can be understood by most english speakers. Even if the word just recently came from another language like: Déjà vu. Everbody knows what it is, there is no "real" english word for it. For me its part of the english language, altough the words are actually taken from french. Valid "english" words for example that came from german I consider: Blitzkrieg, Kindergarten, Zeitgeist, Führer

I think this language issue, and out of game changing languages, taking parts from each other is just another example to that other discussion that went here. Cantr is a game and no "perfect virtual society". So if the out-of-game english changes, in that a french word becomes so common, it should also be valid for characters to understand and use it.

Anyway, it's a very minor CRB since no other language groups are involved and I think it's all in all tolerable (even though not very good style).

I think that if a word has not been incorporated into a language for at least two hundred years or more, it shouldn't be used at all. But since this kind of corruption is already spread, the only way to fix it is create groups to "sanitize" people and culture. Like the dutch try.
