Anything would be better than what we have now.

How about being able to spend a certain amount of points to kill a character you don't want anymore without having to wait 20 days or borderline break the CR with suicidal antics? Seriously if they're going to die anyway I'd rather they just immediately have a heart attack instead of running around slapping people and stealing notes...and the times I've let one of my own die I feel like I'm being punished for being polite and quietly starving.

As for what's already been posted, besides being able to choose a general type of location to spawn in, I think I like the clothes idea the best...and honestly it makes the most sense, as far as perks that have no effect on the game go. Make a few sets of clothing items and jewelry that can't be made in the game at all (could even be basically the same as the ones that already exist, just with a different description) and players can collect them a piece at a time.

If clothes instantly appearing is a problem the character could get inspired by a 'fey mood' and have to do a (tool-less, resourceless) project to make their masterpiece show up.

I think being able to kill your characters would be a very good idea. For the first time in Cantr you could actually roleplay a good death as well(besides starving your character and hoping no one gives him/her food while you are rping the tragic death).

I like these:
-Death
-The choice of what kind of location you'll end up at
-Different spawning messages (though this can be RPd)

The second especially because sometimes I feel like taking on a challenge. Like, surviving in the wilderness. But then again, with the 40 day wait...hmm... >.> We really need to get rid of that wait as soon as your account is old enough.

Here's a sort of simple one, how about spending points to be able to change the color of the title of a vehicle, building, or sign? Maybe note titles too (I know that must have been possible back in the day because I've seen several old notes with different colors or font but I'm not sure why it was changed, was it just too annoying?)

I really like Seko's suggestion of choosing descriptions too. Maybe if it was just kept simple like being able to choose eye and skin color, hair color and style, or height and weight and have it displayed on the clothing page.

It was because people abused it. I don't see a problem with at least trying turning the option for html in note titles on again.

And I like the descriptions too. Just simple. Details can come in RP.

A character limit and making the description "stuck" until you use more points would "fix" a good CHUNK of the issues with this/that.

Alternate spawn message would be nice. Especially custom ones but I think they should have to be "approved", maybe? WELL, if you "spend points" to get this "new message" you'd not get the instant gratification of spawning the character NOW as there would be some form of "approval" time.

Removing locked characters or shortening the time frame. This would be character by character and you couldn't use after going "psycho newspawn".

Like the idea of "newspawn stuff" as well. This removes that first few days of Newspawn begging for shmit. (Simple clothing with no actually "hemp, cloth, etc" and something just called "food". These items can't be dropped doesn't weigh anything and can only be seen in basic form with having no description to them.)

Using points to customize notes, vehicles (the colour), and the starting clothes of a character are brilliant ideas: none of these grant any special gameplay advantage, but are valuable to people who enjoy the roleplay.

I guess freeform descriptions would work too, though I think there's more room for abuse (or plain ol stupidity) to ruin things there. I was thinking more of the system a lot of MUDs use where you choose up to four or five characteristics from a list of categories. Then you wind up with something like 'You see a muscular, short, green-eyed man with blond hair and a long beard.' or 'You see a lithe, tanned, energetic woman with red hair and a ponytail.

Obviously this would have to chosen only once and then locked in place to prevent people from switching everything around to confuse everyone.

That works, Marian, if not a bit restricting.... and a couple of things are not 100% "okay" within the "set rules" of Cantr. (Energetic and hair styles) You can say things like: beard (whether one is there or not), short, tall, skinny, fat, thin, hair color, eye color, hair length & other things of that nature.

These would all be generalized, of course.

Something cosmetic like Cogliostro states with the game view would be okay. Being able to use points to have the option to organize notes or something in your inventory would be cool too. (Character per character?)

The real trick is to make the point purchases character to character and not once per account. This rewards those who put forth effort into the game on a multitude of levels and does not directly "harm" otherwise.

Ghosts.

Through a one-time massive expenditure of points, a player could bring back a recently deceased character in a non-corporeal form. The ghost would be limited to the location of their death, although, not bound by locks, they could move to any sublocation in that location. Performing any action would require the expenditure of more points. Speaking/emoting would carry a per-character cost. The ghost would only log events, and not appear on the character list for a location. Ghost characters would light up as normal when new events occur, but checking those events would also cost points. Spending the points would give the player 8 cantr hours of access.

Ghosts would be able to:

Speak/emote (per character cost)
Move (flat cost)
Drag things (cost of this depends on mass moved)
Attack (no more damage than a waster - flat cost)
View events in their location (per day cost)
Move through locked doors (same as movement)

Ghosts would not be able to:

Leave their parent location
Enter vehicles
Attack animals
Hold inventory
Appear on the character list in a location
Have more than one per account

The massively high point cost in this would make ghosts rare, but those players that wanted to engage in the coolness of this would be benefiting Cantr greatly by the amount of voting they'd have to do.

(Many thanks to Gen and Ghost Hunters for the inspiration for this one.)

I really love that idea. Something like 150 points for the 8 hours?

Yes wouldn't this idea change exactly what Cantr was against?

Ghosts are not magic, they're paranormal. There's already plenty of paranormal in Cantr.
