Unacceptable.

Postby Kaizerwolf » Thu Sep 10, 2009 8:43 pm

I recently read the new notice posted by Doug. Docking pay from the programmer who made an error is not a good thing in my eyes. Just because they made a mistake doesn't mean that their money should be taken away. Honestly, i think the person responsible should still get paid full amount, because mistakes happen. It means the programmer is only human.

If this is in the wrong spot, I'm sorry, but this seems like a very big issue to me.

:P None of the programmers (staff is only volunteers) get paid, it was a joke.

Thanks for the support anyway. I'm also in LangD but I haven't yet translated the announcement to Finnish because I have a feeling the joke would be misunderstood. I think it should mention that Cantr staff consists of volunteers and no one actually gets paid, or at least put j/k or ;) in the end

Good move Seko, I thought the same when I read the translation part. I figured it was a joke, but it still felt a bit uncomfortable.

Yeah, Doug almost revealed that we get six figures for our job, but succesfully managed to turn it into a joke

Am I the ONLY person that got the joke?

Not to mention that within the sentence structure it was the code that was actually having its "pay withheld" and not the programmer who "made the error".

Any one in America simply wrote that off and moved on.

I find this very humorous. Don't let misunderstanding prevent you from doing the translation - just leave the joke out.

It seems that dead-pan comedy really is a by-gone art.

It is nice to have a player defending the staff for once, though.

Eh... I don't think I would pay for/donate to Cantr even if I had the money. :?

To be 100% honest, I am getting EXACTLY what I'm paying for.
