Dudel. You have stated that everyone should be able to play as they want to play.
And now you say that they are playing wrong.
You are arguing against your own statements.

Agreed it does get rather annoying. When will Cantr just be a game again, where it's based on fun? Now days if somebody Rp's with a different style than somebody else likes it becomes a flame war. Personally I beleive to each his own. As said if a person does'nt like the way a person RP's they should agree to disagree instead of coming on here and bashing the other player. Not everybody wants to have epic death scenes and sometimes if a character is annoying they might not want to talk to them before they cut their head off. That kind of stuff only happens in the movies anyway, in real life would you go in and have a lengthy convo with someone you plan to kill? Not in most cases, seriously, you'd just kill and get it over with. I'm saying that everybody plays cantr differently unless they're cheating or running their mouth OOC ingame this should'nt even be discussed.

That's what I purposely avoid. Why be like hahahaha I was a spy all along, I work for the galgamecks and for the past 10 years we have been plotting your demise. After we are done taking over this town we are going to do this and that. Aren't I ingenious?
I don't operate that way. If I kill a person I don't tell them anything.

Not talking does not equal not roleplaying. With every single attack my characters do in the game I post at least several lines of their actions. It's no fun to have nothing to read in your character's last events log. Many of my characters don't say a word when killing, because I find it hard to picture someone talking before killing as well. Just bam! Talking later. But with roleplay!
Dudel - I heavily disagree. And as for the death scenes:
Cantr II is a slow-paced game. Many players only play for a few minutes per character each day and one meeting can take a week to play.
And I am annoyed by those faces too, but it's better than no emotes at all in my opinion. Though it gets annoying with faces like >.> which are just used to show annoyance as EMOTES, leaving nothing to the imagination of others, whilst that face IRL would mean you need freaking surgery. Or n.n or whatever. Emotes are much more fun to read (they have endless possibilities, too, which emotes don't -- they just force a finished image in front of the other players) and are much more likely to earn you a spot in the wall of fame and in players' hearts.
If people use lol/lmao/rofl - report them!

Oh no no no... people may play as "poorly" as they wish.

I was merely describing the "other side of the coin" which practically NEVER gets posted here... AND SHOULD.
I think I want to continue on with "more examples" that I find to be "poor".
<start>
People who never miss ANYTHING.
Those that sleep for, god knows how long, and act as if no time has passed. Slow game or not a lot of other players have indeed moved on. Sometimes "bursts" happen and you are just not included. Deal with it, sorry. I deal with things... I miss things, sometimes it happens. Other times you can "pretend" that no time has passed and get away with it, however.

People who can see behind their heads, through their heads and under other people's clothes. X-ray vision, do what now!?
Code: Select all
Such and such says, "*turns away from ____*"
You say, "*Glares at such and such's head.*"
Such and such says, "*turns around* You glared at me!?"
You say, "ARE YOU PSYCHIC!? DO YOU HAVE EYES IN THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD!?"
________________
Also, people who "complain about the old" IC.
Those that say such things like "Oh those must be so heavy for an old person like you" or anything to do with the fact that the person is indeed "old". Age in Cantr is not a factor in ANYTHING other then seniority.
I want the "old" to strike the "young" in that instance. "Whatsa say ya young yipper snapper? I striked ya wid me saber? Oh but that couldn't have almost killed you cause I'm so old and frail, clearly."

People who "allude to ticks". That's just annoying! Can't you (((OOC: The next <whatever> tick)))? Trying to describe the tick but at the same time saying "tick" without using the word "tick" is just... dumb. Just drop the facade and say "tick", no harm. It may "break up the reality of the situation" some but really... what "reality of the situation"? O.o

The (((OOC: I'm be back on X day or gone for X time))). I DON'T CARE!!! So your character is sleeping, whatever. Why was it ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to say "when" via OOC? I'd rather people say they are "gonna sleep for awhile" and I find that annoying. I'd rather people just sleep and then magically wake up and pretend like they were not sleeping.
If others don't "notice" that your character is sleeping its like no one notices they are "gone". Its kinda funny, actually.
_____________
Do NOT "describe your hit". One of those reasons being that you might actually miss. Another being is that you are forcing YOUR VIEW of the situation onto the other player.
Code: Select all
Such and such hits you with a weapon and you loose 30% health.
Such and such says, "*strikes the man's shield arm* Ha, now you can't defend yourself!"
You say, "Um.... you didn't hit my shield arm? *waves arms and legs around freely* That hurt like a bitch though. *chuckles* I think its internal bleeding or something, the damage I mean. *winks*"
______________
I broke those up this time to show that they are short thoughts and indeed follow the K.I.S.S. "rule".

That's kinda 50/50. I mean if something was an OOC accident it shouldn't "technically" effect IC in any manner but at the same time clutter via OOC isn't "good".
I say "drop the OOC" if you must but if another person wants to "run with it" then you kinda have to let them.

This. My 'favorite' example was one time when a character started a bunch of drama, and then when it looked like the town was turning against her was all 'ooc: whoops! somehow I got this chars personality mixed up with one of my other chars, so let's just forget all about this lol'
I mean...seriously?

I mean...seriously?(and no, it was not a matter of posting with the wrong character by accident or anything like that, she was actively RPing this whole event with people for a couple of days and then expected everyone to believe it was because she somehow 'forgot' her characters entire personality.)
Ridiculous

I don't mind the stating how long certain people are gone. After all it gives the people they interact with a sign that they will not be replying for a while. Still think it should be played out Ic though, but there is nothing wrong in telling others oocly that you're gone for a few days.
It's called good manners.

I thought the 'emoting thoughts/memories' thing had gotten better but now I have a char in a place where there were several in one day! And it wasn't even the same character each time. The sad thing is that others actually responded to the emoted stuff instead of pretending they couldn't read the char's mind.
