Eating Zero Grams of Food

Postby Rob Maule » Fri Aug 28, 2009 1:50 pm

Code: Select all

2712-7.31: You ate 0 grams of your roasted carrots.

2712-7.31: You ate all your mashed potatoes.

As far as I can tell, he wasn't sick. Also, the day before, he got hungry but I believe ate the exact amount for the day (last of his food).

Does tiredness affect eating? Was he sick? Daily food requirements being tweaked?

Just a supposition:

If the requirements was 22 grams per day of mashed potatoes(don't remember the numbers off my head and dont have wiki here, just using 22 grams for an example) and you were holding 21.6 grams, then you would have eaten all of the potatoes and .4 grams of the carrots which would be rounded to 0 and show up like it did...

Like I said, I do not know how that is all set up, but it is a decent guess I think...

I'm pretty sure that is correct.

I believe that projects are rounded when the results ends up in your inventory (or the ground). Even if they weren't, my character was given the food, and you can only give whole numbers. If you try, you get this error:

Code: Select all

ERROR: Only whole numbers are accepted

Yes, but if your hunger is 95% satisfied and you would have to eat 0,4g of carrots for 100%, it will be rounded to 0.

I think if you eat all of one resource, it will automatically check the next one whether or not there is hunger left to satisfy. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've had this happen plenty of times. If I only pick up enough of a food type for that day, it will look for the next food type and say 0 grams, or if you have no other food it will say "you ate X grams of carrots" followed by "you are hungry" but you aren't penalized on your hunger bar.

What SumBum said. Been experiencing that for ages now. So yeah, you're probably right Seko.

If you arn't penalised on the hunger bar if you eat some food cant that be abused? By taking less food that the rate of that food so it says "you are hungry" but no penalties and then you just pick up a tiny bit of food again?

No, I believe you get some penalty if you eat partial meals. It may not be the full 5% hit to the hunger bar, though. Someone please correct me if that's wrong. I know I've tried in the past to ration food by eating less than what's required per day, but it didn't really help that much.

What I was referring to is, for example, carrots are eaten at 117g per day. You have exactly 117g in your inventory, which should be enough for that day, but you get the message that you're hungry after you eat. Since you've eaten a "full meal" your hunger bar doesn't change.
