K.I.S.S

Postby Dudel » Mon Aug 24, 2009 11:26 pm

This is to ALL of you who participate in the suggestion part of Cantr.

Keep it simple, stupid.

A well thought out idea, or addition to idea, gets bogged down quickly by people over complicating things and making them overly difficult.

When an idea formulates it should, yes, be thought out. HOWEVER, should not span more then one or two paragraphs or add in anything overly complex. Once things start breaking into the annoyingly difficult or complicated people stop caring and/or just dump the topic. This behavior prevents good ideas from being discussed thoroughly and/or moved beyond where they are "stuck now".

So I say again: "Keep it simple, stupid." Make the idea clear but DO NOT, for the heaven of it all, make things overly drawn out, complicated, or difficult to read. A suggestion should have its reason, its cause and its effect.

Those were three paragraphs.
But yes, I pretty much agree.

Or if you want to make it more difficult, do that after posting a more simple explanation of your idea.

Now how about implementing this one..?
- Every person lost in war is two too many.
- Respect comes from two sides and must be earned. Nobody has the right to it because of a title, sex, age, race or birth.
- What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I just see it as a guideline and not an actual limitation.

Maybe it was more of a suggestion to players and not so much "about the game" but really... it was a suggestion.

Its just that when things are long and/or painful to read, no one cares and the idea gets lost in the shuffle because of this. Lots of really good ideas too!

I am glad to be able to say I agree with you here.
I'd like to add that it'd be better for anyone to just have a general part of his/her suggestion, and then extra information about his/her idea added quite a few lines underneath it if you really want to post it as well.

Well all I can say is that sometimes you make things long and painful yourself.

Not in the suggestion forum I don't!

The rest of the forum doesn't really "apply" to this as those can be, and are by a lot of forum goes, ignored for the most part.

Anything from suggestions down need to have short, quick and to the point posts.

O:

I agree with not overcomplicating it, but I'm fine with long posts. Sometimes you can't explain something in three paragraphs. Well, sometimes, more like often.
