Ads while playing

I've noticed that there are only ads displayed on the cantr front page.

Cantr could generate a nice chunk of revenue if it added ads to the left and/or right side of the playing page. There's nothing there anyway. And there should be no concern in loading speed if a good ad provider is chosen. (Googleads/etc?).

I'll get pissed if it's on the right/left sides. Bottom is fine. Nothing on top. Definitely not on top.

Could you possibly explain why?

Is your screen to small for it?
Do you think it will ruin the looks of the green page?

I agree with Wiro. I would have nothing against some ads on the bottom, just below the players menu for example, but not on top, at least not on characters pages. It could be if it was just the character-list page, though.
And side-ads would ruin whole page style for me :?

Hmm. What if we let the user decide on how many ads they want to see. And reward them with an amount of points (Yeah I know points are pretty useless at the moment) depending on how many ads they look at?

or maybe the other way - players can spend their 'useless' points (gained on voting) on lowering amounts of ads they have on page?

I like that idea. But I doubt some other players will be just as tolerant as me about it.

Uhm... but I bet the thing they won't be so tolerant about is rather the fact that there will be more ads, not the fact that you can avoid them using those useless piles of points, you know :roll:

More ads?
We only have two on the frontpage and one on the forum.

That's very little compared with other browser based games.

And I'm certain that most players play cantr because it's cantr and not because it's nearly ad free.

But if we can get more finances then usual we can look at possible better or more servers.

We do need money, yes. I block my ads anyway, so this wouldn't affect me. This would have to be ultimately approved by Jos.

Exactly, and that is a positive thing.

I agree with the others, more ads would not be something that I would like at all. If they were on the very bottom that would be fine, but not the sides or top.
