Talking, Conversations

Postby Gunther_01 » Mon May 03, 2004 9:51 am

Would it be possible to have a chat-room-style system for conversations, then you wouldn't have to refresh the page while waiting for someone to reply.

Also, instead of pointing and other actions being seperate, there should be a way of pointing at the same time as you say something:

*************
You Point at Jim and Say:"Sir, What is your name."

You Point at Bob and Say:"Thats the guy you want, there!"
*************

You could also add a couple of other actions as well.
It would probably be better for the dyamic naming systems with buildings.

*************
Bob Says to You:"Oh, you want to check inside the City Hall." Bob Gestures at Hall.
*************

What do you guys think?

Part of the role playing is one reason to not have those, best if the person role plays it. I dont mind how its all set up right now with the pointing an talkin.

Speaking of conversations, why can't we actually have private conversations? You can talk to one person at a time, but why can't you include someone else in a conversation? Like a three person conversation. You say to both people the same thing automatically, they say to you and the other their input, etc etc. Be easier than copying and pasting to each person your post. But not necessary, of course.

Yes, I like this idea. Not only is it realistic that you can speak to more than one person in private from everyone else, but it will also be useful, and more efficient, i.e. less things need to be repeated, etc.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. It is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Only I will remain.

Just to make it clear:
It is strictly forbidden to set up any kind of chatrooms in Cantr. If we find one of your characters holding a note with a chatroom script in it, your account will likely get locked instantly.

Ad private conversations:
If you want to talk in private with a group of people, go inside a building. Whispering is only possible to one person at a time, and the current policy is, that it will stay that way.
It's not forbidden to suggest otherwise, though. Even for the n-th time. ;)
