I'm pretty sure a long time ago I suggested a new system based on skills and potentials. People would inherit "potential" from their spawn parents, but their skills would all start low. Potential would determine the speed in which a skill raised. So, you could still inherit the "potential" to be an expert fighter or blacksmith, but you'd still suck when you spawned. Characters would have to figure out what they're good at by trial and error, just like...the rest of us.

I really like that, it would also be good against people that kill their chars when they are not expert fighters.

Yeah I really like this as well. I see a lot of possibilities stemming from this change.
