Moving locations to cause projects to be auto (x)'ed.

Postby Cogliostro » Thu Aug 13, 2009 12:19 am

Currently if you have an active project and you want to step into a building or another location, you must first "X" your project.

The suggestion is just to make this "X"ing automatic. You move, and it auto-cancels for you.

(note: it does not delete the project, just does what the current "X" does)

Yes, this was confusing for me the first time I encountered it, and an annoyance ever since.

If you've forgotten you've been working on a project though, will that lead to more abandoned projects?
(That's the only objection I can think of.)
Maybe if you try entering a building etc a box should come up as a reminder, requiring an acceptance - this is a bit less of a chore than having to stop work then find the Location/buildings page again.

A reminder box, in my opinion, serves exactly the same purpose as having to manually cancel the project, so there's absolutely no reason to code something that does the same thing as an existing feature.

I see the attraction of the suggestion, but I think it will lead to lost productivity when people forget to restart their projects.

I am for this suggestion, but NOT for the pop-up box. It is pointless like Doug said because you still have to click it.

I don't see how people can forget they are workign on projects... I always go to the Activity page and see if there are any projects I have left that I started.

Anyways, I am for ths suggestion if it gets any farther than here.

Like I said, I am pro-auto-X-ing projects when moving.
