Actually, Seko, I pitched it to Jos with my understanding of it, so perhaps you should either recode it to match, or pull it for now.
Seko's all but implemented a mechanism that would randomly let a random character overhear a whisper (2% currently).

I'm suddenly uncomfortable.

I don't think there'd be any problems with just adding it and seeing how it'll be. If it's too often, it could be adjusted.

I'd be less hostile towards the idea if it was a single 2% chance for a random person to overhear.

Yes. I'm still absolutely against this, though.

Don't get me wrong, even then I'd still be against it, just not as rabidly.

Perhaps, but I suspect it'll be too much. Let's give it a few days then.

I agree with Doug, that it should be put on hold/temporarily deactivated until Jos is made more accurately aware of how this new coding works.

No offence Doug, but shouldn't changes like this have more of a consultation period?

Unless something is done to change the project "ticks" or the absurd length of time for some basic projects, I don't agree with anything that is intended to force whisperers inside. People don't just stay outside and whisper for no reason. It's because the game is not supportive of using buildings.

The game DOES support buildings and being inside them but people (players) like to be "outside" cause "thats where all the RP happens". I DO want whisper-ers to be thrown/forced inside or ACTUALLY rp with others then that ONE or TWO people. Go inside if you've "an issue", that is where you have "private talks", whatever they may be, and whispering is annoying. :x

The event page FILLS with clutter due to whispering and this would encourage people to involve others in the RP or "take it inside".

To be 100% honest I think it should be that EVERY whisper is heard by AT LEAST one person other then the intended.

The "note argument" is... NO ONE ACTUALLY USES NOTES! The "note" is used to important info (maps and laws) and for talk between closed/locked doors. Otherwise it is used for only YOUR character for whatever reason.

Of course NOW I see people passing notes back and forth, back and forth with no title.

You/your character wants to do something they don't want others to possibly see/hear then do it out of plain view!

I'm ALL for this! GUN HO!

There is ALWAYS the option to just outright REMOVE the whisper. ;)

I agree you don't even know how many are against it. As I read here there are many who don't like it.

Dudel, no, just no. You're going to extremes again. We have the ability to whisper IRL without a guaranteed person overhearing, to make it so one other always heard no matter what would be stupid and would spoil the RP to a degree.

That may be true in certain cases, Dudel, but I find that in my experience my characters stay where the work is and RP falls around that. Reason: work and production is very slow.

I agree that this suggestion should have had more time to be thought through thoroughly. Usually suggestions never get implemented in just three days.

The original suggestion was intended to reduce the irritation caused by whispering. Changing the game mechanics to reduce the amount of whispering (in public) is not necessarily the best answer to the problem. The much-requested event filter would have had the same effect.
Pretty in pink.

One char already overheard two whispers with a small amount of things being whispered.

You know the perception that staff doesn't listen to players?

It's a mystery where that comes from.

2%?? either my char is very "lucky" or it's more than 2%...two overheard whispers in five minutes

How is it possible that suggestion posted at forum few days ago was implemented so fast...and other have wait at least 3 months?
I have a cunning plan...

it's times like this that i am glad i don't play anymore..... only a couple of days after quitting the game for good and already they are messing up the most basic functions of the game.

got a problem with how people play the game? SO WHAT! don't change the game just cause too many people have " bad habbits ".
