So what, we are continuing the story?

If it is continuing, I am interested.

Me too. lol just say the word.
Awkward: Having your phone go off full volume during a funeral.

Even more awkward: Your ringtone being "I Will Survive"

The most awkward: Coming back after a 10+ year hiatus and swearing I'd never come back.

Well it looks like it is, I'll go for it.

Dearest Rose,

The recent stationing on Grakwath has not been going well. I'm regretting making Sergeant, as my superiors treat me as a joke, assigning me four of the greenest rookies as my squad. I bet the security guards (why do they need us here anyway? There's no reason for it, the prisoners can't get at the guards in their complexes, the guards have the only vehicles, and the prisoners NEED supplies from the guards) would make better troops than these guys. I had hope for Private Davies, but, him being my only heavy weapons troop, his repeated incidents and mishandling of the plasma gun have forced ME to have to carry the heavy thing around. Sure, it's powerful, but it's a burden.

On top of this, they've had my squad stationed in one of the 'tin cans', hardened open-air bunkers suspended in the anomalous 'bubbles' in the planet's gravity, for the past week. They're cramped, hot, and overall plain uncomfortable. Add that to Grakwath's atmosphere being hot and humid like being stuck in a giant armpit, and that the air smells beyond foul, and well, you get my point. I swear if my troops don't drive me crazy in this hole, the atmosphere will.

Sorry, but I have to cut this short, they're dropping supplies from the Merideth again. The shuttle's crew won't talk to us, and drop our supplies into the tin can through the airlock. It's almost as if they're afraid of an epidemic of some sort, and that we're quarantined. Well, the prisoners below aren't keeling over, so I guess they're just being cautious. Still, I don't like this, feels like something's more wrong than normal.

With all my love,
Chris

I hope that was okay.

Dear Diary,
These soldiers are giving me a headache! For years all that was needed was us security guards. If the IFSSP hadn't sent the Secretary here, we wouldn't need these soldiers wasting our resources. I can't remember the last time the Meredith delivered to us and not the soldiers since they arrived! Luckily it sounds like they aren't going to let the Secretary live long. They probably didn't like the speed with which he managed to gain the respect of the prisoners. It also can't help that the public backlash basically means that the Secretary can freely correspond off-planet, and enjoys almost all the freedoms the security guards themselves do!

I hadn't heard much of the the knocking outside since I've been sleeping well. Doctor gave me these new pills that they developed. They look like tiny crystals, but work great.

Daniel F.

Dear Samuel,

I have no hope that this letter will actually reach you. The Super Secret Evil Military Organization is nothing like they said it would be! They talked about revolution! They talked about supporting my family! I haven't seen one credit that they promised. I barely get fed, and I'm sure I wouldn't even get that if they could get away with it! They have us doing research day in and day out. I walked around the lab one day and was quickly asked to stop. I saw enough though! WE ARE ALL WORKING ON THE SAME THING. The same substance! How incompetent is the SSEMO with it's resources if they have nothing better for their scientists to do than waste their time with crystals. I know I haven't made any headway, but if they let us actually get our hand on what we're researching instead of just giving us pictures, I'm sure more headway would be made.

I got the impression, not necessarily the same story, but the same world (and maybe characters)

I think a new story completely is needed. That's what I got out of the whole thing, that we'd be starting anew!

I'd suggest a more traditional fantasy/medieval setting, or even one set in a Cantr-like world (as was one of the suggestions at the start of the game).

I was actually kinda excited about a sci fi setting, and quite fine with the way it looked like it was going to go on.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I've done quite a bit of traditional/fantasy RP and liked the notion of sci fi.

I agree with medieval/fantasy, but am fine with science fiction as well.

I don't mind sci-fi and have no problem continuing the story but...if we do, can we delete the last post by Russell? I feel like it made everything so tidy and neat and though his point was to end the story, if we are continuing, it doesn't fit.

Whoa, I actually didn't notice that this thread had any activity this past week. I thought it was dead.

I thought that we were going to continue the story in the same world, with perhaps a couple recurring characters (I was going to focus on Dr. Ahkbar, but drop Wallace unless someone referred to him). It seemed that we were moving the plot to Grawkwath, so I added this to the opening post:

Summary of Thread
page : general content
1 : intro and beginning
1-3 : first story arc
3-5 : discussion of first arc and rules
5 : beginning of second arc

...which I'll keep updated as the thread goes.

As far as changing the setting completely to fantasy/medieval/Cantr, I'd be alright with that, but I thought it would disrupt what little momentum we've got. What would a Cantr setting be like, I wonder...
