No, bleeding would also occur when you score a critical, but there would be a higher chance of it happening if you did it to yourself because then you weren't trying to dodge.

the bleeding thing would require game changes, and would change the way combat is done. sounds like too much work for something potentially annoying. ( even if done to kill your own toon. i disagree with bleeding damage altogether )

I do not disagree with the hemorrhage or anything. It brings more survivalism into the game. Quite hardcore indeed, sire. But, taking a realistic aproach to the whole matter... only if the messiah came we would be adding add hemorrhage into the game. Everybody knows how things are moving right now.

Now, my good sir, I find that a very silly statement. What defines a Cantr? Is it you, since from that sentence I have deduced that. Cantr can't be NOT Cantr. That makes no sense. I think you mean 'in the spirit of Cantr' I think this idea fits Cantr perfectly.

Honestly, I don't like your posts :S

Good point. To say it in a more elegant and awesome way than my friend ^ thataway, no matter how we change Cantr, it will always be Cantr. The soul will always be there, the core, the awesomeness of Cantr.

sometimes i don't either (if that makes any sense).....i didn't explain that well enough. games do need some changes here and there at some point ( like World Of Warcraft ) but i've said enough. i'll just have to be more observant in the suggestion forums so when it gets accepted ( if it gets accepted ) i'll know what to expect and how to counter it ( which hopfully sheds some light on what i mean when i say it will change the way we do combat )

EDIT: i messed up the quote?......uhg

edit: Happy to help. ---Piscator

One thing I'd want to add, it's not guarenteed that the PD will kill off a character.

I submitted a request, for one of my older characters, having a wonderful experience meeting people, stating for well over a game-year that he was retiring, and giving away his possessions over time to just lie back on their ship and relax. He started sleeping more and more, but would smile contentedly from time to time, and make idle chatter.

Yet, when I wished to have this character fall asleep and never wake up, for RP reasons, I was denied (told there are other ways to kill a char, starve, etc).

So, my character is slowly just starving, thinking how he will need to start trying to convince the crew that he doesn't love their formerly delicious cooking in order to die peacefully at the end of his life. *sigh*

I would loive a time-delayed ability outside of the PD to use. Even if it takes almost as long as starvation, or 10 days, or what-have-you. Since this is a roleplaying-heavy game, an option outside of murder/starvation/heart attack would be good for those wishing a "peaceful" death.

That is partly because it is too easy for people to take advantage. We can't say yes to one request and then no to another without people getting upset, so just easier to say, you have to die ig on your own.

Nate's request touched off a bit of a debate, the conclusion of which resulted in the policy that PD won't kill off characters for any reason now, since that's the only fair way to do it. So, no more "I'm too busy in RL" character kills.

There may be a method to kill off your own characters in the future, but your character would have to meet strict qualifying criteria, age being one of them. It's something that's being discussed, but not yet at the highest level.

I agree, and think it' a good suggestion, and also understand the PD's ruling to save themselves many headaches and remain fair across the board.

However, even if it takes 20 real-life days, similar to starving a character, it would be nice for in-character story. Much of the rule-base deals with keeping things in-game and in-character. For a character who is healthy and peaceful and/or "very old" in terms of game age, somehow locking them in a room, or falling asleep for a year before they actually die off of what seems a rather un-peaceful manner as starving or violent animal/weapon wounds is almost against being in-character.
That's the suggestion I'd love to see.

Not sure how it would be implimented, but even "heart attack" would still work as a final cause when you examine the corpse. If your other characters are active it's not as easy as simply never checking the character again until they go idle, since your account is active (to my knowledge). Plus, in my case, it's tough to starve when the others keep feeding you, regardless of how long I sleep. :)

One of my characters is at the end of the road now, really... and I don't want to have to starve him for a few more days to have him die because of the thing that happened those few days earlier. :S
