Once I did encounter a couple who started to have sex in the open. My guy protested and the girl actually invited him to join them. O.o He suggested they find a big rock to play behind (there were no buildings at that loc). They kindly went along with it, found a suitable rock and started whispering.
Can't say I'm a big fan of having a screen full of whispers, but my chars rarely complain or comment on it.

Not guilty, but this is the only way to keep up a character description. It's as annoying to try to do as it is to watch, trust me. That's why most people don't do it.

Indeed. And some of the more unique characters won't make much sense if you don't know how a person looks... like one of mine.

Here's a suggestion, when some people are whispering a long time, people could go "*looks towards X and Y*" and X or Y could whisper back with what you are seeing. I would do that if someone did it to one of my characters, except if it was a conversation that's not very visual, in that case I could just go with "What are you staring at? We were just talking."

If participants in a private conversation wish to RP the interaction that's visisble to others in the location, they can write public emotes while the conversation is going on. I've used this in the past to let people know my character wasn't making out or something.
An example could be RPing any bodily movements "aloud" and any speech as a "whisper".

Well if they go behind a rock, it's natural that they must be doing something private there. And maybe they're loud? But if people are in a public place and don't rp moving behind a rock or otherwise moving to a more private location, it would be good to post gestures in public if they're not having sex.
