if one of my characters , for reasons unknown, knew every language there is it certaintly wouldn't be a CP breach. since we don't have in cantr what we have in rl such as body language and hand movements, tone of voice shift in emotion which can allow 2 people to understand eachother without knowing one word of eachothers languages. the character just knowing the languages would be in compensation for the lack of those movements and tones. also since some languages are similar to eachother or have similar roots, then they can be easy to understand.
also english could mean different things to different people, different parts of the rl some people speak british english and some canadian english almost starting to look like 2 very similar languages rather than 1 language, tha english some speak could be a changed form of english the evolution of the english language and it's ability to adapt and accumulate other words is why it has survived. in my area there is a alot of words used that are from other languages but we are all speaking english, here's a word, Uber it's a german word but it has become part of our "english" by becomming a synonym so being that one persons english is actually different than another person's english it could very well make them full able to speak another language as almost part of thier own.
in canada with the french and english languages as the top 2 for a few hundred years both languages have had some exchanges and changes. quebec french is different from france french too but it is french.
being that i know french and english for so long they almost could be one language to me though knowing there is a french as a seperate language allows me to pull my "frenchlike english" words to speak with them and leaving my "not so french like english" words out of the conversation.

Like different British dialects (check www.whoohoo.co.uk for a good laugh or some ideas) Jolly good, old beans.
Third off, creating another language in game is fine. Using a secret language for a group of people is okay and has been done before in many places. Just be careful not use an language that has its own area like French, Dutch etc... and use a language that hasn't been used somewhere else in Cantr already like Drow or Tolkein's Elven and I believe another area has already used Klingon as well. I would like to see an actual language created froms scratch in Cantr. I imagine that would be fun and interesting to see how it evolves throughout its history.

As I (sort of) suggested in the Drow suggestion thread, why not start an island where NO existing language is allowed to be spoken? English can be used only for actions etc. The english interface should be used, but characters should not speak any existing language whatsoever. Each community would have to develop its own way of communication between characters. Maybe start by pointing at a resource and making up a name for it?
I think it would be very interesting. Actions (eg. *looks pleased...*) would have to be used a lot more than normal, but that shouldnt be a problem. Also, maybe drawings on notes would help in communication?
