Are we really still playing the "game is dying" card? That was being said when I was first playing the game about 2 years ago...the people leaving are, for the most part, probably just the sleepers who join, go "wtflols letz start a gang of ppls with xbows and kill evre1 lol"...as for the long-term players, we all get sucked back in one way or another!

It's sad when well-developed old characters die but sometimes they need to make room for the young ones, and it's true that the oldbie players tend to come back eventually (although they might remain for less time than in the past - I generally think that if someone has quit once, they are unreliable).
Although this discussion shouldn't be in this topic.
But anyway, no matter how fond of people may grow of old characters who've lived an interesting life, it's still annoying when they sleep and that lowers their value. There's a lot of delicious drama when someone dies while active, either by deleting their account or getting killed by other people. It's much better than when people stop logging in and their characters starve to death or the account times out. I think it's a design flaw that people can't give a heart attack to just some of their characters without having to talk to PD about it. Of course you're going to regret later but I bet people regret even more when they end up killing all of their characters just because they were having trouble with one or two.
One of my characters would have been all ready to help one of Randi's characters die earlier, betcha that would've been better for rp than just clicking the X.

Agreed.

The biggest flaw is that PD won't kill your character off unless you want to kill off like half with the reason you want to have less characters. So character die a slow death usually without much RP.

The fact that PD gets to decide whether your reason for killing them is "good enough" or not, is ridiculous. Why is not wanting to play that character any more not a good enough reason?

A friend of me pretty much quit Cantr 'cause of that. lol. He wanted to start over but couldn't be bothered to make a new account or let his characters die off.

I wish there was some instant death potion available in cantr. I would start a cult, assemble like 50 people, have em all wear nikes, and we'd all kill ourselves to go live with our zebulon alien brothers.

During my time on pd you wouldn't believe the number of players we would get over and over telling us they wanted their character dead and upon asking why, "some guy has me locked up and is killing me off and I'm pissed at him over it, I want him to die by my means, not his.". Some players get in the mindset not to play the character out when they find out things didn't go the way they wanted them to go or they were about to die so they decide Oh well I'll just show that player, I'll kill mine off and he doesn't get the satisfaction of killing me. We got it so often it was ridiculous. Don't be so hard on pd, they are put in a difficult position trying to make things fair for all sides involved. If you really want to kill a character off there are now ways to have it done, granted maybe not as fast as you'd like but it's possible now to do it on your own.

It's always been possible to do it on your own. And I'm just saying, I find it a little ridiculous that PD gets to choose whether or not your reason for wanting to kill them off is a good one. I mean, PD gets to decide what's a good reason and what's not. Like someone said earlier, really the only way to get em to kill em off for you is to say, I'm wanting to cut back on characters. Otherwise, ANY reason you give them is not good enough.

Even that doesn't work sometimes.
"I just want to cut back on characters" the player says. Then 2 weeks later they make 3 more new ones. Not cutting-back at all, just wanting chars removed for OOC reasons which in essence is a CRB.
You want a char dead, then take them into a room and have them hack themselves repeatedly in the head wth an axe.
Or drop all their food and don't bother checking the char for 20 days.
"We can't do anything if we don't want to keep a char" isn't a valid argument. Yes you can.
And please continue bad-mouthing PD Rigel, it's great, honest it is!
