Anything that doesn't exist through game mechanics but is probable to exist gets "WTFs" from other people. Example: Smoking pipes.Rebma19 wrote:As opposed to RPing by marshmallows or something..Ryaga wrote:I don't like how people expect you to RP JUST by game mechanics sometimes....I'm actually not sure what you mean. Example?

I guess that's a matter of perpective. I mean, when someone rolls up some leaves into paper and lights it off a nearby fire pit, I can deal with that. But when someone is magically like...Oh look, I have a pipe! Haha! I'm like...no...you don't...you crazy crazy person. I mean, if they're gonna RP creating it for a few hours, well then, good job. I just don't like things being pulled outta nowhere with no effort.Ryaga wrote:Anything that doesn't exist through game mechanics but is probable to exist gets "WTFs" from other people. Once there was a guy who jus' spawned and came like:
He spawned in a woodless island. <Insert Grand Ackward Pause Here>
But something way worse was waiting me just years after. In the same city once spawned a woman. Here follows the recriated conversation. Warning, there is no exageration here ( and names were changed to protect the people involved). This happened in a small agrarian village, long time ago.
BAD RP IS BAD.
(Spawning light poles in tribal societies? Veeeeery veery bad!)

Yeah you got me. It is something that bugs but, it's so widespread now it can't be stopped! And they really do come out of nowhere, but at least they exist, for RP's sake. What I was taling about is things you pull outta nowhere, with no RP, that you can't prove exist.lordcooper wrote:Rebma19 wrote: Stuff......

I typed a huge speech about how I was going to free them and pressed enter.
In that time, they had killed my charrie. I think the only rp was along the lines of "Get him!"
looooooooooool That's why you write before entering the room, and preferably step outside right afterwards to give them time to absorb it. The other stuff was funny too.
My roleplaying experience prior to Cantr came from freeform chatroom roleplaying so my characters were mostly spawned with a background story and some basic clothing.
- Maline was spawned in a location that only had one sleeper (or I assume it was a sleeper, didn't stay there for longer than a few minutes) so didn't manage to communicate with people for the first years of her life. The first time she saw iron she was like "Wow, I've never seen that before! Well I mean my mother had a kitchen knife but that's it."
- Seko was an orphan, never knew his father and after his mother died, he got so upset he torched the house and ran away. Spawned in Pak that's nowhere near a source of wood, and technically you can't burn houses even if they were cottages.
- Jaina's father was mauled by a bear so being the oldest kid in the family, she was sent away to make a living. And her father had hoped for a boy, which made her grown rather tomboyish.
- Hannah had ran away from home because her father was going to force her to marry someone about thirty years older than her. She had a cotton dress. Discarded that when they managed to make hide bikinis.
- Gahak was from some sort of a noble family no one had ever heard of. Very arrogant. Didn't like peasants. Understandably "the peasants" didn't like him either.
- Pharap grew up on the streets of Tircqi, I imagined some sort of a slum neighborhood. He had a hat and a pipe and I'd imagine some sort of nondescript clothes as well. Explained having found the pipe in a pile of rubble. This one time he tipped his hat to a person and the person emoted *doesn't see a hat but (something)*. After that I figured out it wasn't appropriate to rp having stuff that doesn't exist.

Just for the record, Ryaga...I think those little guys in your sig are very creepy...
Awkward: Having your phone go off full volume during a funeral.
Even more awkward: Your ringtone being "I Will Survive"
The most awkward: Coming back after a 10+ year hiatus and swearing I'd never come back.
