How do you roleplay notes?

Postby Ryaga » Sat Jun 13, 2009 4:20 pm

How do you roleplay attaining, writing on, and keeping notes? I'd like to know especially in cases with things like atlases and encyclopedias.

You could say that you scribble on a note, or your reading a note or what Ryaga said... other then that I don't really know.

I sometimes RP stuff with maps when I show a location. Like tracing a line from one location to the other.

*examining the map closely for a few moments he runs his finger across the map slowly following one of the paths before nodding* Yes... Here, here is where we are now. *points to a spot on the map*

Yeah for writing and taking notes out, sometimes I leave it like "pulls out a note" just to be vague, but sometimes I'll have that character who *pulls the note out of her fur bikini top and unfolds it*

I've got one famous for crumpling up notes and just leaving them places.

But what about the initial note? And journals? Where do these people get these things?

I think a lot of us roleplay as if we already have all the note papers handy...and when writing, are never specific about -what- we're writing with, unless we decide to write in blood, or dirt...or with a juicy grape. Lol.

No one ever questions where all the note paper comes from. It's just assumed we have it handy.

That is because the truth is Cantrinians shit blank notes. Really they just... reach in.. and... WAIT!?

*writes on a note*

*scribbles on a note*

*makes a note*

etc etc etc... Try not to get to specific cause then you get IC questions that you can't always answer.

Handy.

A kind of primitive auto-wipe system.

Dare we ask where the pen/pencil/ink/chalk come from?

Seriously, though, thanks for the information, because as a new player here (but RPing since 1976), this question DID worry me, especialy in regards to CRB.

Haha, for a moment I thought you meant 1976 as in Cantr time. Wow I need to get my mind out of the Cantr.

Cantrians spawn with a regrowing sheet of notepaper and a performing octopus that produces ink and writes with the tip of his tentacle. You rarely see them in game though as they are usually kept in hammerspace.

 An excellent reference for this topic!
