I used that once and killed someone. I only did that because the one who locked up my character was very sleepy (as in, only woke up when he got attacked, and even then only two days after it started) and didn't roleplay at all. So my character and the other guy locked up made good use of some wood and a body lying there as well, along with my characters awesome dragging skills, and they managed to escape.
Although I hate situations like these, I think that even barricade-and-hit-from-outsiding can be played well and create good RP situations. Releasing from a prison by locking the keyholder inside of it can be RPed as stealing the keys, knocking down the guard etc. If only the guard is really going to roleplay with you.
