Guns... and why this is obviously a huge issue
Guns. That one word probably has sparked enough forum arguements syaing why or why not they should be incuded in the game. Now, I have not looked at any topic regarding guns, but I have thought about it a bit.
Here are some pros to having it included in the game:
Much better weapon.
Push for more advanced technology being developed.
We have cars, so why not?
There are way more issues involving allowing characters to make guns, however:
Gun to powerful of a weapon.
To balance the power, they woud need to put an ammo feature for the gun, which would cause players to call for ammo for other ranged weapons.
New resources would have to be introduced to create guns.
This would lead to players calling for explosives and even cannons being able to be built.
Which would lead to players demanding an option to attack buildings and vehicles.
Many, many, many issues inolving changing to many things about Cantr in order to put even a single gun design in a player's options.
Disputes about involving rang in attacks.
And, of course: One-hit problem. People may argue that a gun is powerful enough to kill instantly, especially with a shotgun or some other extremely powerful gun. Guns would have to be given a veried attack strength, because accuracy would determine how much damage is done (shooting someone in the foot versus shooting them in the face)

LOL. So you are suggestion to have weapons that could possibly do MORE than 60 damage!? I mean, seriously, it is rather easy to kill someone if you're with two people. Making that even easier is just unnecessary. And lowering the attack power of other weapons is stupid and would unbalance the game.
And if guns are added as a weaker weapon... that would be nice, but it wouldn't make sense. Although being hit in the face with a claymore and surviving doesn't make sense either so let's blame cantreality for that.

That's what I'm saying... there are way to many problems that owuld be caused by that to actually put guns in the game.
Then again, in some ways, the earliest guns could do less damage than a sword could. Sure, there's range, but a sword slashing through a target kills them. Stabbing someone kills or gravely injures them.
people can be shot by a gun and still walk around jsut fine.

Well from my time back in the resource department there have already been guns created and entered into the database. Just not implemented into the game yet. So, it might come in the future. Hwever there were also some other very advanced items which we may never see in the Cantr world since they are far more advanced than the current civilizations we have.
As far as the damage, guns would have to stay below the 60 hit points to keep the game reasonable. I don't see any problems with having guns that do between 40-60 damage and have to use ammo. I do not see that messing up anything in game. It would add a lot more areas to roleplay which is always good.

that is one big advantage to having guns in Cantr. Being able to have guns brings a whole different level of roleplay. For one, holding hostages is much easier to roleplay with a gun. Then there are gunfights. Duels. Things like that.
Eitehr its would have to ave a lower range than realistically possible, or the damage percentage of other attacks owuld have to go down.

Well changing the hit rates of all the other weapons is an option, but not a good one. It would change the whole battle system...
I would be more prone to say that we just lower the accuracy by a large amount, so that you miss alot, but the occasional hit does a very large amount of damage.
Or, I would go with my original suggestion and just set it's damage somewhere between 40-60 so you don't have to worry about changing anything in the current system. Sure, a gun would probably do more damage then a sword in real life, but then again it depends where you get shot and where you get stabbed. So, I think we could get off with just putting the damage somewhere betwen 40-60 and roleplaying the rest.

I do like the idea of adding the whole accuracy factor. Guns early on were highly inaccurate, when compared with other ranged weapons. Highly advanced weapons, liek the ones we have now, are much more accurate.
SO I liek the whole concept of a powerful weapon that misses a lot. It would be highly realistic.
Is there an accuracty skill though? something that affects your chances of hitting soemthing with a ranged weapon? If not, maybe that should be taken into consideration..

Lots of misses, pwnage hit sometimes = evil. Imagine someone with a bunch of tea hitting everyone, drinking tea, etc... way too epic.

Wut...?
I think *Wiro is saying that a really powerful weapon like a gun, even though it would miss a lot, ti would deal a lot of damage when it would hit, therefore being to powerful.
*Wiro is comparing that to drinking a lot of tea (which heals damage, I'm assume) when they go around hitting a bunch of people. It's way to uunfair and unstoppable.

One of my characters did that a while back, a town of 30 drained down to 0 people outside, and he killed a good bunch while drinking lots and lots of tea. It WAS epic.
