tattoos?

Postby snm2001 » Wed Apr 08, 2009 8:20 am

maybe have ink and a needle, have people who have some ability in tailoring also have a hidden talent.. tattoos. it can be a project that takes time to do and have a permanent place in the description of the character. there can be different designs to pick from.

Again, this has been suggested several times. If tattoos had to be predefined by RD, the set would always be limited. If they were freeform then there would be the translation issue. Also with presets (and I guess with freeform as well) people might use pictures of things they have never seen, for example animals that only live on another island, or swords on an island that has no iron and so forth. It would be handy to have some sort of built-in memory that records which items and animals a character has seen but it would take a lot of room in the db.

Well I think if we need a limit to what can be tattooed it could be left to the imagination. No real pictures needed. The artist would be the one who would need to have the "pictures" in their inventory since they are the ones offering the service. I have seen alot of tattoos that I had never seen before when I have gone to a shop.. and I am an artist and all my tattoos are by my design. The thing about art is there is a freedom to it.. things inspired by dreams.. abstracts.. things imagined in stories heard. I think if you over complicate it you'll be passing up on things that make the game fun. I think there should be preset tattoos with a description similar to a bracelet (which is basically in the same catagory as a tattoo.. something useless just to look pretty) so make it a jewelry project or something only you cant underess from it. Dont worry to much about what it looks like because tattoos are art. *smile* an artist is complicated.. not the product they produce.

Well, we create thing without seeign them right? It doesn't matter if a character has seen meat grilled before, the character can still do it. Same with building vehicles. And slo, chracters can start projects requiring resources not found in their location.

So why wouldn't you be able to have a monkey, or a wolf, or a girafe on a tattoo? It's just liek anythingelse. SOmehow, characters have all this knowledge of how to build things. So why not be able to know what a monkey look like? Or at least know what a tattoo of one looks like.

I agree with it being included in the character description.

he is a man in his thirties.

he wears nothing worth mentioning.

he has a tattoo of a skull on his shoulder.
