QueenofBlades wrote:Dudel, I honestly don't understand how you can dislike storms. I mean, other than the destruction of personal property and shit. But it's all fun cause the powers out and now you FINALLY have a reason to use those damn candles, and when you look out the window the pines are all sway-ee and cool looking, and you know sometimes they fall on your trampoline or the room you're sleeping in, but it's cool cuz you don't even wake up, and it's like super-rain, and it feels like when you were a little kid and you'd take a flashlight into your sheet fort and it was all dark and close and spooky but in a good way, and the whole family's at great grandma birdie's cause her house is like a castle (in strength terms), and the lightening is just stupendous all like "BAKOWWWW!" and it's really bright and the sky gets that cool shade of almost yellow-red-gray and the air just feels ALIVE, you can feel the electricity in it....
How do you not love that? It's so much fun.

Here are the reasons why I DON'T like them... mostly... I think.

Well, I'm not big on family time and neither is the rest of my family. TV "helped" with that and when the power goes out we have to tolerate each other.

The animals in this house go BLOODY APE SHIT during a big storm.

We don't "do candles" because flashlights and batteries work better. Using those things are a pain in the ass because unless you get FLOOD LIGHTS you STILL can't see. I do NOT like the dark, so there is another.

I am partially color blind so anything from brown, red, yellow, orange... etc those colors in that "area" are difficult for me to see so I only see gray and red. Neither at the same time.

Property is the BIG thing though. I don't have a house to live in to "enjoy" said storm if a tree SMASHES into my bed room. NOT TO MENTION all the electronics that get DESTROYED!

Oh and gratz Diego.

Yeah, electronics can get destroyed by lightning. That's why you should unplug electric appliances during thunderstorms or at least turn them off. I'm not sure if turning them off makes a difference but at least disconnecting them completely should do the trick.

Turning them off does the trick well enough. I've lost power and had surges while the PC was on before and, provided you have a power strip/surge protector, you'll be okay then too.

Safe then sorry: Turn off your shit when there is a lightning storm.

I've been told you need to unplug them, the spikes still travel down the line whether things are turned on/off.. I've heard some great stories about modems getting fried too.

But then again, IANA..electrician

My night has consisted of dead phones, drug deals, cop cars, and getting propositioned for a job.

Awesome...

I don't like my family either, but it's kinda fun because it's...a storm. It's like a big party! *shakes head* That's why Florida sooooo doesn't count as the South.

Why? It gets all spooky and dim and fun like scary story time when you were a kid.

@.@
For most of the time I lived in SC, I lived in a double-wide trailer. My house really could have been picked up by the storm. Hence the going to grandma's house. (sans wolf). But still, trees and shit fell on the house and it was fine. And if you make sure you unplug all you can, you should be fine.
Sounds like whining to me.>.>......<.<.....>.> Someone's cranky.

As for the rest, I'm sorry that your eyes fail at life and stuff, but it sounds like you don't want to enjoy it. If you tried, you really could have fun in storms. Laughing at people trying to drive on the road, trees falling over, all the fun stormy stuff.
Storms rock! At least try to enjoy them. :]]

I had a hard night last night. Me and my flirtatious friend who I was talking about a few pages ago were having some fun, when all of a sudden there's a knock at the door. I open it, and my neighbor shoots me in the foot and leaves. No idea why. I was at the hospital all last night and apparently I'm going to be on crutches for a month. Thanks, life!

Now that is just god damn solid gold, Mr. Black. That is one of the funniest, most bizarre anecdotes you'll get in life. Milk it! Milk that bad boy!

Whoa, that came out pretty homoerotic.
