I think most players start powergamer-y but then once they realise that having all the best "lewts" doesn't really mean much in cantr where good equipment is pretty common and well RP'd characters are likely to have the support of people around them to stop any "one-man army" that comes in trying to take over.

hahaha, not all powergaming is about conquest and muder, some can powergame without using bloodshed as the means. sometimes a war is thrust upon them and as a result they happen to gain that which was thier enemy's but would otherwise have not gone to war siply to gain power.
some can powergame though reason and friendly diplomacy and still hold onto a very high position of NEAR absolute power but in an enlightened manner and succeed and live to be very very old
indeed i do have a couple power chars,
indeed i did have other powerchars
current powerchars are not murderous scoundrels in fact yes one of mine in thier life did have a war did have to kill someone but not to gain thier land, but becuase they were forced to fight and as a result got gains
in the past one of my powerchars was indeed a fascist, anyone remember prage of shortinazy?
he did lock someone up and execute them but he did it with style, he did it with role play, he ordered them to bow before him and hail him and killed the person anyways. one time someone decided to ceede a city from his administration, he returned and executed him, prage made that public knowledge. yes prage died and why? i cant remember for sure but i think forst there was a server downtime and it was follwoed by my own slow regain of interest in the game and he subsequently starved to death, but would have otherwise lasted at least a while longer if not till this day.
another powerchar that never got to the mass conquesting point was zeus darwin, a few people may remember him as a sadist, he took pleasure in killing people often out of greed of thier vehicles to help advance his own people.
on the other side of the coin, anyone remember the tutonic knights? i founded and lead them for decades, brute force was not used but a republic did surface, how long it lasted beyond the life of tamara vasquez is not the question but the fact that it spanned from brunoi forest and west hills to the quill and shambon without shedding a drop of blood or uttering a single threat is to show that, yes a powerplayer can suceed peacefully and in fact has
too bad she starved to death probably same time and reason as prage and zeus
just wanted to make the point that powerplaying can be done with rp and style, and CAN also be done without savagery

This is all sort of what I was talking about, but playing a power-hungry character isn't necessarily powergaming. Combat in Cantr can't really be powergaming because it's a game mechanism that characters can participate in independently of other characters.
What irritates me more than any of that, however, is this example:
Repeat six, seven, eight times. "Dude_Two"s have perfect eyesight, perfect hearing, yadda yadda yadda. They never miss anything, and anytime someone is doing something shady like that they highlight it and use it to their advantage.
The other thing that irritates me is when people tell me how my characters react to movements. Things like assuming that my character shakes their hand, that my character is ticklish, that my character will sit when asked to, or whatever. It might seem like a little thing, but it really gets under my skin. If you're typing an emote and it has any other character as the subject, you're doing it wrong.
So, that being said, I restate my question: How common is powergaming in Cantr?
What irritates me more than any of that, however, is this example:
Dude_One: *tries to hide a smile*
Dude_Two: Why are you smiling? This isn't the time for that!

I hate that kinda RP too. But I'd rather have a player like that than those people who don't talk, don't RP, and might whisper to one or two people that they have built up a strong, wealthy "company" with.
We also need more fat characters. My next character spawn (which will take a while considering the fact only one of my characters might be killed, but he's invincible anyway) will be chubby and scary. Like the "father" in Filth in the Beauty by The Gazette.

Two of my characters are fat but keeping other people informed takes a lot of effort. It would be easier if it could be made visible in the character description.
I agree that it's annoying when people assume others will react in a certain way. But it's also annoying when you do something to someone and then they don't reply, so you just stand there for hours because doing something else or walking away would spoil the moment.

I would love to see it. Although I wouldn't want to see it being overdone. Like, in every action blahblahblahhisfatbellymovesrightandleftanditrotates.

Loving food doesn't necessarily mean getting fat, though. =P I mean, I'm like underweight and eat tons of snacks, food, drink lots of coke and stuff. And I don't do any sports at all.
(Lazy, I know
)
Can't wait to start playing a fatty.

CORRECTION: How common is god-modding in Cantr?
OH that! Thats even more common then power-gaming. People assume stuff about characters they JUST MET and some they have known for years. (In emotes) Its times like that when I divert from character, just a little, to throw stuff off.
TAKE THAT YOU GOD-MODDY ANNOYING... anyway...
You speak of what is commonly called "god-modding" in the RP world. Its a manner of trying to control things you and/or your character(s) have no control over.
This includes previous examples along with:
- *Making things glow/shine/move
*Ducking/dodging a hit, not a miss, from another player that wasn't only RPed. (Game mechanic)
*Forcing a hit without the game mechanic of "hitting"
*Implying thoughts in your emotes. ESPECIALLY other peoples.
*Using said thoughts to your advantage. (Other player)
*CRBing is a BIG god-mod. (Actually the CRB basically means "don't god-mod"
Think thats good enough.

Please accept my apology in advance but.....
You know what usually pisses me off with powergaming...
When certain people don't use Roleplay, come out and hit people, barracade a door using game mechanics and then thinks his playing fair. Makes me sick! *throws up*
*wipes mouth looking all innocent* Is my apology accepted?

In any other game he'd be called out for using a known glitch and/or bug and called a cheater. Shame Cantr isn't like that.
I'm sure if everyone waits out side "that building" long enough then the other guy will get bored and quit. Although, dragging people inside doesn't help.

I used that once and killed someone. I only did that because the one who locked up my character was very sleepy (as in, only woke up when he got attacked, and even then only two days after it started) and didn't roleplay at all. So my character and the other guy locked up made good use of some wood and a body lying there as well, along with my characters awesome dragging skills, and they managed to escape.
I was actually pretty happy the guy died, because in return for one sleepy, non-RPing char, the Cantr world got back two active RPing characters.

that is pretty much how i define godmoding in a true RP environment.
emoting, or trying to modify a situation which is outside of the players control. Proper RP would dictate starting an action which might lead to the emote or modification they desire.
