Mafia wars

Postby SekoETC » Thu Jun 04, 2009 6:22 am

I started playing it on tagged.com a few days back and I'm totally hooked. Probably would have made more sense to play it on myspace but oh well. Energy and stamina regenerate 1 point every 5 minutes so I can just stay logged in for hours if there's something worth doing. Like today I got to level 15 (am level 18 now) and got to rob people, and I also got some members from an "add me" topic, so I can usually find mafias I can beat even if my equipment wasn't all that great.

At first I thought it was lame you can get attacked and robbed by people much higher than you, but you don't get hurt while being robbed and even though it reduces your income, after 30% they can't be robbed any further so a basic level of income is guaranteed. And I don't need all that much for the upkeep of my inventory.

As for attacking, there are plenty of players around and most people don't have any money on them, so people are not going to bother attacking the same person several times unless there's a bounty on their head or if they're stupid enough not to bank their money.

I think hits were a good way to get started, even 80k is a big sum for a newbie, but now robbing seems to provide more stable income. I think the biggest bounty I managed to get was 8 mil. Made me feel like "what am I going to do with this? Gotta spend quickly before the person attacks me back!" It would be good to plan ahead what you're going to buy or you'll just have to bank it and lose 10%. Now I haven't done bounties in a while.

I'm keeping a list of people I can beat so I can check back on them to see if they've repaired their buildings or bought more of them. But if there are easy targets on the fight list then I'll check those out first before using the list.

The funniest thing that happened to me was when someone put a bounty on my head and some guy who's over a hundred levels above me thought it was such a piece of cake that he didn't bother to bank his money. I apparently scored a critical and got a big load of money from him. Then he attacked me back and took maybe 6k but I managed to bank the most.

Also another time, when someone put a bounty on my head, I got attacked by someone on level 9 or something, and I attacked them back, they had a lot of money on them so I attacked them several times until they stopped dropping money.

There's this guy who's level 33 and he keeps repairing his property as I rob him, so I'm milking a lot of money from him. I guess it never crossed him mind that maybe it would be better to lay low until I turn my attention elsewhere. Now I have no need to go searching for other targets because he gives me the big bucks.

If you like that game you should play Torn City. It is the best free online game in that class. It is very similar to the Mafia Wars game, but way better. A whole lot more to do in it.

www.torn.com

I have been playing it for two years and it is still fun. So much to do on there!
Every action has a consequence.
