well it would be interesting if one person lived many many years and mapped 3 continents returning home at an age of 107 grabbing resources tucking himself away in a hidden location comming out only to grab 15000g of carrots, nobody ever sees him until he finally decides to make himself know at an age of 250. now the thing is this character would hafta survive all the animals attacking, all the random thugs causing problems all the wars, the break ins of his/her own home. i think being able to make it through utter hell should not be in vain by just dying because you have existed a long time. to live long takes great skill and even luck, diplomacy, resourcefulness, cleverness, and many other things, how many roving groups of bandits are out just to cull those who they see, it's hard enough to survive through that, many of us have either heard or experienced towns being ransacked and virtually exterminated leaving few if any survivors. i think it would totally be a loss of fun if you were the only survivor of a massacre only to die 3 days later because you are old.

Nope, people should die of old age. You begin dying as soon as you are born and it is inevitable that you shall die. The same should happen with our characters. I will be sad to see a few of them go after living a long life but this will lead to generations of Cantr people. If you have your characters live forever without dying from old age, I would imagine that some characters wold stay in power or be major influences forever. This way things can change from generation to generation. Once the older generation leave the world then the younger generation will take over and will rule. It is the evolution of societies.

how can you say death is inevitable? just because it is what always happens doesn't mean it is inevitable. people should be given the opportunity to enhance thier character to continue living. to have a preset age of death is just wrong and isn't true, over the centuries people (real people) have been living longer and longer, who'se to say we cannot live to 1000 just because nobody else has. granted it would be pretty damn hard to live that long but we cannot say it is impossible. it would take a life of dedication towards extending ones own life, which is why it is so hard to do. and as it should be in cantr but it should still be possible

I think we should die of old age too. Espicially if we ever incorperated a skill system, that way no one can ever become all powerful like a god or something.

that is why it should require a great amount of investment to live extended periods of time. if you are 150 years old trying to live to 300 you would be too busy to run an empire wouldn't you?

Well, all these people are talking about how age should make you less reproductive, if that was the case if you were 150 you would have to train all day long in order to keep from from getting weaker. Maybe not all day but a significant amount of time.

omg i finally thought of a good solution.
a secondairy aging system.
well people grow and they become of an older age in years which is irreversible, however i think there should be a secondairy "meter" that has to do with how aged you are because in the real world some people are 50 years old but they could be as youthful as a 20 year old or they could appear very aged as if they were like a "typical" 70 year old. prehaps if some rare resources were put in sort of like "antioxidants" prehaps spring water and blueberries would help reduce the secondairy meter and let the secondairy meter be the thing determining old age death, of course in order to keep living, you would need to keep collecting and consuming the spring water and blueberries and they would be hard to get.
the spring water could be gotten anywhere in the mountains maybe you could make it so a person would hafta drill for it but it can be done anywhere in the mountains you build the well, as for blueberries, well i dunno where those should be placed obviously not in ideal locations with bountiful resources, should they be in the mountains too?

anyways that's what i thought of to counter balance the mandatory death age thing since it really is a divided subject

Blueberries are already in the game, first off. And to remove them would be unfair, and to change them would be unfair.

Secondly, spring water is disgusting. I wouldn't drink it in a million years. Noooo way.

Thirdly, I do know what you're going at and it's suggested up there, in a different context. Although you could be 100 years old and still be as healthy as a 50 year old, it would require a lot of programming to create so many causes and effects on ageing, that it's just not worth it. Although it would be more realistic to have, I doubt it'll happen anytime soon.

I still dissagree with old age too. I don't wanna die. But that's the only reason I have, and it's not valid. Having old age kill you off is what's going to happen, though, and so shouldn't be fought. Jos has dropped his hammer on this one, I believe.

I think old age should be speeded up somehow. I'm not sure how, because the Cantr year's length is pretty much set, but I think (partly in light of kroner's comment that more things happen in Cantr) that the average character lifespan should be shortened.

 Not a bad idea really, for those who want their character's name to live forever. Since they are going to die anyway might be willing to part with a lot of loot to pay for it.

Brilliant.

That's actually a great Idea. And mausolea for deceised leaders. Ofcourse in full armour, sabre and shield along with some jewlery buried with them. It'd be nice to stumble on such a tomb in an abandoned town far into the Cantr future and plunder the tomb.

But seriously, that could be a nice idea. Creating a sort of Valley of the kings, Cantr style.

Hmmm... Suggestion for new building: A pit, a kind of burrow style building. Rougly a hole in the ground reinforced with some stone and planking on top of it to cover the whole thing. Needing just a shovel, some stone and wood. It'd only be good to store some stuff and to dump a body or 2 there. Too small for any machinery.
Life is fun. Play naked with Psycho-Pixie.

oh no i wasn't suggesting going to a unilateral immortality, and defenitly do not shorten the life span omg!!! no. being that i'm new i just learn by reading here that blueberries exist. as for the secondairy youthfulness meter thing, i figured since they program so many more complicated things in that it would be small potatoes to them as far as programming is considered. but i really think it isn't right to have everyone die by a set age no matter what thier condition is, besides so many people die from murder/execution/viscious animals/starvation that setting an age limit would both bring in one of the very bad things in rl known as age descrimination (yes old people will be victims of it since they only have a set number of days left) and if people want a long lived old fogie emperor out of his throne it is not that hard to do something about so even if we were given unlimited lifespans chances are nobody would ever live to see 500 years old. i just think it's more fair to have it more in the hands of the people of cantr than to have a preset end of lifespan.
