The line is in different places for different people. The important thing is finding where the line goes and not crossing it, but this is difficult when people are discouraged from using OOC (and I bet it takes some courage to tell a person who locked up your character that they're creeping you out). That's why I still think there should be a built-in system that allows people to flag their characters as sensitive or hardcore, so that others will know what level of explicit content the player is okay with.

Good idea. There should definetly be a flag for players who are minors. It is illegal to engage in online sexual conduct with minors, and they could cause a lot of problems if one of them wanted to make a big deal out of it. So, I think if anything, then that should definetly be an area that is flagged.

Well I am sure that most minors would not want it to be like that, but I think it should be. All it takes is one or two parents seeing what some of the people are saying to their kids on here for them to file some complaints on Cantr for not protecting minors. I mean some of the sexual content that is roleplayed is on a mature level, and could even fall under literotica. Any site that have pornography or literotica by law must now allow minors to be allowed to access it. I mean obviously they can lie about their age, but then that would be on them and not on Cantr. As long as Cantr flagged anyone that admitted they were minors, then that would cover their butt.

I'd actually agree. Wiro's chars, or at least the ones I know, are pretty romance-based, but romance leading to sexuality. I think that it would be pretty gay to do this. You should at least be able to change the age on your account, so that way minors don't have to create new accounts just so they can get their fair amount of RP.

I doubt the game would be SHUT DOWN but soemthing COULD happen if someone raised a stink.

This is why I'm actually a fan of said "arbitary line" despite what may or may not be "taken from me".

It sucks for some of you and it might lead to a rather stale Cantr world but no law breaking etc would happen and there would be less OOC noise about said subjects.

I'm guessing most of the "zomg we're gonna get sued for sure!" people are Americans anyway...

It seems awfully backwards that creating a system where people would know someone's comfort level without having to ask or guess could be worse than a system where anyone can be exposed to exclusive material without their consent. And maybe even if minors were automatically flagged, you couldn't really prevent teens under the flag from taking initiative and writing sexual content but at least the other player could be aware that this person may be sensitive even though he doesn't want to admit it, and keep it low detail and proceed with caution. Teens often try to act tough and act like adults, not admitting that they're emotionally undeveloped and vulnerable. I remember when I was a teenager I used to hang out in chatrooms and pretend I was over 18, this one time I went to cyber with some guy and he emoted something like grabbing me by the hair and making me suck his you-know-what. I just wrote "slurp, slurp", really not interested in playing that sort of stuff, waited a bit for him to move on, but when he didn't, I just left the chatroom. But in Cantr you can't "leave the room". It would be useful if there was a button for zoning out so that a person would stop seeing events. That way they could avoid reading unwanted events. Of course the character would be physically vulnerable, not knowing about dragging or hitting until they find themselves in another place or notice their health has dropped, but such things are less offensive than freeform text could be.

Another thing is that there are a bunch of people here that treat me like some kid and it's rather frustrating. Especially if it's someone who can't spell to save their life, and then goes on and on about how they have no reason to roleplay properly with a kid I really tend to get frustrated and my RP drops a few levels then if I notice that the character is played by that player. Another reason why I don't want people to know there's a "little kid" behind my characters. That way it won't just be part of the romance RP taken away from me, but the RP in general will suffer. In my opinion I have already gone past the part of immaturity regarding sex and stuff like that, and am perfectly capable of playing it out in a way that suits me best, nothing to extreme like rape, and without the lovey-dovey RP growing weak because I can't have my characters touch another character because that might just be too close to having sex.

So I might just accidentily change my age to 18 if this is added.
