Lucky you. They don't put you under for that here, got to stay awake. 1h 15m on the first side (2 teeth), then three weeks of recovery then the other side, 1h 45m that time (for just 1 tooth).
My normal dentist didn't dare to do it, since my roots were so wide and deep, so she sent me to the hospital for dental surgery. The last tooth was among the worst he'd done. He was probably in his fifties, having done that kind of stuff all day long for most of his career. That really tells you something.
He had to chisel it out in tiny tiny pieces.
No good painkillers afterwards either, just normal over the counter stuff. Ibuprofen, iirc. This whole thing must have been about five years ago.

Oh yeah, I forgot this too.

When I was 12ish I had an "operation" on my toes. Had HORRIBLE HORRIBLE ingrown toe nails on my big toes (both sides of each toe) that kept coming back so had to see a foot specialist. Once the local anesthetic was over with (mother, a nurse and my sibling had to hold me down for that) I watched the surgery. I was cool how they removed the to nail and then snipped whatever was causing my nail to grow the wrong way.

VIOLA! No more ingrown toe nails!

I had the option - seeing as I have top level health insurance I figured I may as well make them pay out on something. They recommended day surgery as they needed to split two of the teeth to get 'em out. Plus I was terrified of even getting a filling, so I probably would have fainted if they started putting needles near my mouth. XD

That sounds pretty nasty though ceselb. :(

I'll share a few fun ones....

As a baby, I used to have seizures. I would stop moving, stop breathing, and turn blue. My parents took me to the hospital, but even the doctors weren't sure what was wrong with me. But because they weren't sure what it was, they taught my parents to do CPR on me, told them they weren't sure I would even survive more than a few months, and sent me on home. I guess the drugs they gave me to try and control the seizures could have killed me too. It was made for adults, and my mom had to cut the pills to give me the right dose. She easily (and accidentally) could have overdosed me. I just sort of grew out of it though; I haven't had a seizure since I was an infant.

When I was 6 or 7, my brother hit me in the face with a toboggan. Went to the ER to make sure I hadn't broken any facial bones or scratched my cornea. Luckily, I was fine and only had a huge black eye/scraped face for a week or two.

Had my wisdom teeth out last Spring. The family dentist no longer pulls teeth (thanks to my own father--but that's a different story), so I went to the oral surgeon. I was completely knocked out, and absolutely hated that. Spent a week after that doped up on codeine (I don't tolerate pain. So I slept through it) which made me feel sick. I will never have any sort of surgery again if I can help it.

 Now I'm scared to get my wisdom teeth pulled out.

I don't have much of a medical history >.>

One time I was sick and very feverish. I fainted and hit my face on something. A wire from my braces went right through my bottom lip so I had to get stitches inside and out. My bottom front teeth were kind of knocked out but not really. The orthodontist had to push them back into place (most painful thing of my life @___@). Would have gotten my braces off that month but I had to keep them on an extra 2 months. :x

Now I have near perfect teeth, a scar under my bottom lip, and 2 dead teeth that required a root canal. Yay!
