Another instance of the game? A Cantr afterlife for those that die of natural causes? Not heaven or hell. No contact with the other game. You can't take anything with you.

That would be pretty boring. It would take several real life years before a character died of old age. And the chance of a character surviving long enough for old age to kick in, pretty slim (And hasn't happened yet)

Unless of course, starvation counts as a natural cause. Which it doesn't.

*groans*...please no afterlife, that would just be horrible. Perssonally, I think there's a small chance of many chars living to a very old age and probly isn't much to worry about. I'm waiting for the first serial killer to show up that hunts a specific agegroup, I'm surprised it hasn't been tried yet. Far as I know it hasn't anyway.

But, then again, this is Cantr. Cantr isn't real life. Who says people can't live 250 years? 500 years? 1000 years? Exactly.

Cantr is amazingly slow-paced, it takes years sometimes just to plan a wedding (except in Flonder, where it becomes official as soon as the couple agrees to marry) and almost a year to travel between towns. Most places holding elections at intervals, usually end up with that election taking almost as long as the interval. So... I think Cantr folk should have more years in their lives, or perhaps longer years.

I still don't want death from old age or decline of health to happen either. Soem aspects of the real life are best left out of a game that is supposed to be fun.

You see me attack with a Dr. Who snipet.
------------------------------------------------

Dr. Who : "So what has chaged here since you discovered the key to immortality some 3000 years ago?"

Immortal: "Nothing has changed" in a very defensive tone "Nothing ever changes here this place is eternal like ourselves" in a very prideful tone.

Dr. Who: "And therein lies the problem. Stagnation."

don't get me wrong, in all honesty i would prefer age to not be a deterioration factor, my previous post was only if such a thing were put in, so that we could still have a chance to survive, but i say again i would prefer to keep age deterioration out.

There are already enough ways to die in the game. Those that make it to such an old age shouldn't be killed off by it, or suffer because they made it that far. The greatest irony would be one of my chars like Marie Antoinette. Who survived Abhol, and the second massacre simply by being at the right place at the right time. She had a wooden shield, she would have been killed in that second massacre. I find that I take pride in playing her because she has lasted.

I also agree that chars shouldn't die of old age. Some of the main reasons were already stated that they are born and twenty and the years go by so fast and like chris said things take forever to plan cause of the slow pace of the game. Some chars spend most of their time traveling and then to finally reach there long distance destination and then die from being old cause it took so long to get there? That would take away from some of the fun.

I see the afterlife thing was mentioned, i know a few of us had talked about that before. We thought it would be nice for those of us who miss our dead chars very much. So the one we were thinking of wasn't just those for natural caused death but for the others as well. While it would hard for some people to play their chars again maybe, others would enjoy the reuniting of their chars. I know it will never happen but it's fun to think about.

I believe Jos said there's already something implemented about death from old age. When we all panicked, he said something like, "Come on guys, it'll still be about a year before the first chars start dying that way." I don't think it's been a year since he said it, but it's been long enough for everyone to freak out

Jos said...

"The idea is actually to have around 4 years of playing before you die ... and there is, I think, a good reason: to give new people a chance and get the old powerful people out at some point  ...Plus that in our lego game, we sometimes had the effect of extremely weird careers, simply due to long lifetimes. E.g. one guy was - if I don't forget anything - first owner of a construction company, they hired by a railroad company, then became politician and even president, then moved abroad and became owner of a garbage company, then came back and became president again, then retired and set up a trade union ..... it's a bit too much :D "

After some general temper tantrum from players....

"Come on guys ... it's at least another year of playing before the first people die  "

So, we can save serious meltdowns until the end of this year or later....
