Is it possible to destroy notes?

Postby Lumino » Thu Apr 23, 2009 6:23 pm

I am doing some administrative work within Cantr, and I cannot for the life of me find a way to "delete" notes or envelopes. This is very frustrating! Is there any workaround?

You could shove it all in one big envelope. :P

That's what I've been doing, I made a "Trash" envelope. But it's really annoying. :/

Far as I know, notes and envelopes cannot be deleted.

If a note is editable, you could just go in and delte whatever message it has and just carry the blank note. Otherwise, just shove everything in a single envelope and drop somewhere far away where it will never see the light of day.

If you go to the "See notes only" tab, you can scroll down and click the "Edit multiple notes" button to push them in envelopes all at once. :)

I try to deal with the clutter by recycling notes as often as possible. I would just delete the message and name them something like 'scrap paper' and use them instead of creating a new one the next time I needed to write something.

It is annoying though, which is why it's so refreshing not having a character in charge of any towns this time around, and I intend to keep it that way...

You cannot delete notes or envelopes.

You can do what people have suggested in this thread though.

Correct, you can't currently delete notes. There was some discussion about it though, and I think Jos changed his mind a bit about the subject. So we could implement it. It's quite easy to add burning of notes, unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious in the db. I could do it in a couple of minutes, unless I'm mistaken.

So... is it going to be implemented?

One thing to remember for you. As deleting notes is propably easy, harder will be checking if it wasn't the last note using a particular image, as it would have to be deleted from the server as well.

Well, it doesn't make sense that you should be able to "burn" notes with an actual fire. There should just be a "delete" button.

If you can create a new note by simply pulling it out of thin air, you shouldn't have create a fire to make it go away. Notes aren't really physical objects, as far as I'm concerned, since you don't need, say, paper and a pen to make them.

I agree, but the game db knows no difference. The mechanism would be exactly the same as melting a key is now. You could set some really short times like 0.001 hour and make it automatic, but that's about it.

I reopened an old suggestions thread about this topic to keep things orderly. Can we continue the discussion there?
Pretty in pink.
