Disarming Skill.
It would be a seperate skill from fighting. It would be possible to do with any weapon, but some weapons would be better at it such as rapier, flail, whip.
It would be useful for justice purposes, and also military. It would more accurately represent the advantages of the rapier, and add another dimension to combat, where it occurs.
It would count as an attack for the day for that target person.

Yes, the idea is a forced drop of a weapon.
Well thats sorta possible in real life too, although 3 battleaxes might be stretching it. I guess you could simply create a weight limit for all weapons on your person, which would make sense! And youd need this so people dont use that as a defence. There are also still lots of people that dont do that, and only have one or two weapons.
It would be very useful for theives, spies, traitors, criminals of all kinds. It could be used in a one on one combat/person vendetta, or in some cases in war/larger scale battle. It could allow for more combat specialisation/character variety.
Of course, as you say, your right, there needs to be a way to limit the number of weapons one can carry.
There's a key problem with this in how cantr is set up. A lot of characters carry little armories on their person. They don't need to equip any designated weapon. I someone was carrying 3 sabres and a crossbow, how would it know which one to take, and which ones to leave?

I see this as ONLY a 'trick' against newspawn thieves, which would be sorta dumb

That doesn't make sense to me. Especially not if people make weapons for a living and travel selling them. Also...I just want my armful of weapons.Drael wrote: I guess you could simply create a weight limit for all weapons on your person, which would make sense! I'm also partly sure creating a weapon weight limit would be more trouble than it's worth for the men and women behind the scenes.

Code: Select all

Does it make sense for you for one person to carry 30 swords on their person? A person selling weapons should have a container vehicle, not carry absurd levels of weapons on ones person. It reminds me of porcupines.
Code: Select all
Also...I just want my armful of weapons.Would you also like to carry houses on your back, and a car in your back pocket?
Code: Select all
I'm also partly sure creating a weapon weight limit would be more trouble than it's worth for the men and women behind the scenes.Nonesense, its easy to code, they already have weight capacity dimensions, and its based on SQL.
A serious concern though would be conversion to the new system. The characters in cantr would need to have time to prepare and adjust to any differences in weapons, or bulky items.
In fact, a nifty way to code it would be to just add a "bulk" catergory, including some materials, objects etc. Each person would then have a "bulk" limit. Say 6-9 bulk points, weapons would be say 1,2,3, and some large objects 1,2,3?
Or something similar.
Then its stops being cartoonish in regard to carrying no?
Want to trade weapons? get a rickshaw or bike cart.
Or if not, can we have houses on our back? lol.

Well mate, in cantr things are measured in grams, so in fact, going in cantr terms weapons weigh next to nothing, so I don't see why someone can't carry 10 swords at 500grams each, can you?
Your supposed to be IC when your playing and OOC here, lol.
Yes i see a problem with a person carrying ten swords. Can you even visualize that?
Its super weird.
When i see someone carrying twenty bulky items, I have to RP theres no elephant in the room!

Society is nothing without culture. Diversity in the aspect of combat, adds to the diversity present in the society.
Many societies have styles, weapons, laws, philosophies etc. Having disarming would be a part of that.
Life in Cantr isnt meant to be easy, need creates innovation.
Bulk is a simple level of reality, its still very abstract. It makes RP easier as well.
As far as coding, its very similar to the way weight works, but simpler, cos only some items would incur bulk. Thus not hard to code.
One could still carry absurd levels of resources, no one cares about that, as far as I know.

But would it not be absurd to see a man carrying a HUGE chunk of Hematite around? Why focus only on weapons? You would need to change everything to have equality or your logic of seeing someone with a load of weapons strange when strange yet not chucks of rocks a quarter the size of the building, or being able to carry enough wood to make one and a half longboats.
