LOL, oh dear. No, it's alright, Amlin. chase was just making a joke.

I am trying to get work done on the new features that have been requested, however due to time shortages, do not have anything to show yet.

Yes, thank you.

I was hoping nobody would point that out...

2 ideas, hopefully new:

1) "Refresh" button
2) A nice pop sound, whenever a new event.

I'll think about that. It will most probably need to have a limit on the frequency with which it can be pressed though.

That has been suggested, and I am currently looking for a suitable sound.

Maybe the latter... I do not know what made you think of the former...

CantrSpy 1.02

Postby joo » Sat Mar 28, 2009 9:28 am

This is an intermediate version between the previous one and one containing all the new features that have been discussed so far. It is functional, but may contain bugs as it has not been tested much.

CantrSpy-1.02.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?jhgyywmn2ym
CantrSpy-1.02.rar - http://www.mediafire.com/?tigyyzwrzne

Changes:
  • The following settings are now accessible from a settings dialog which can be lauched by clicking the "Additional Settings..." button:

    • Automatically minimise; works exactly the same as before.
    • Update notification style; currently "update notification" consists of a default system "beep" (which may also play from your system speakers if you do not have a sound card installed), however I am planning to play a unique sound as well as make the tray icon flash distractingly for a few moments (similarly to mIRC). You may choose between three options:
      • None: you will never be explicitly alerted for new events (the behaviour in previous versions).
      • Once per character: when a character lights up after previously having no new events, an alert will be triggered. Keep in mind when using this setting that the application updates approximately every two minutes, so it is possible for a short interval of a character having no new events, which should in theory trigger an alert when they get further events, however in practice would trigger no alert as it would be interpreted as an uninterrupted period of being lit up.
      • Always: for every update recieved which contains at least one character with new events, the application will alert you. This will have the effect continually reminding you every few minutes that your characters have new events.
There is also a checkbox labelled "Play sound", however in this version checking it has the same effect as selecting "None" as a notification style. (In later versions, this should allow a visual alert to be chosen without an auditory alert). This is initially unchecked, so by default there will be no sound.
    • Use HTTP proxy; when enabled, allows the hostname/IP address and port of a HTTP proxy server to be entered. This will route all regular updating traffic through the proxy, but not the page request resulting from clicking the "Go to player page" button (so for now proxy users will have to log in manually).
  • The DLL and X32 libraries are now all embedded inside the executable and are extracted to a temporary directory when the application is launched. This makes the application take a bit longer to start up, but may resolve an issue which a certain user reported.

In the next version, I hope to include a flashing tray icon, an option to set a time limit on ignoring a character, and a new alert sound.
