Well at least we are seeing some improvements being made. I have never seen Cantr down this long in the 3 years or so I have been playing. It is quite hard for us addicts! :)

I can't imagine it being down that long and still being addicted to it. I played from September 2003 and have never seen it down so long!

Glad to see it's not planning on being permanent though, when it's back up I plan on reactivating and coming back. :D

If you start paying me a salary of a "self-respected admin", I'll be happy to listen to your comments.

It will be great to have you both back, Dee and Sammigurl! It's about time is all I can say. And if this downtime has anything to do with it, then yay! It has had the effect of getting me back to the forums, so for that, it's a good thing. Perhaps I'll get a chance to catch up on here before the game is back up, because once that happens, I'll be far too busy. :P

Pshhh... it's about time. We'll just see if I can manage to not have it rear it's ugly addictive head at me again!

This is the worst answer you could come up with. We both know what I am talking about.

Anyway, don't worry. Concentrate on the server know. You are doing hell of a job because of this server crash.

Now now, no need to get nasty. We all have to remember it's Jos' toy set and if he doesn't want anyone to play with it anymore then too bad.

Yes, I also think the extended downtime looks very bad. Not your problem though, feetup. Be glad and run your sites how you like with instant failover to geographically separate datacentres. I know I will. But not everyones lives revolve around the 'uptime' command, it pays to remember that. ;)

All I have to say is this... Yeah it sucks that cantr is down for the moment, and yeah it has been x amount of days, but before the crash there was a problem getting people on the team to keep it running. I am actually amazed it has lasted this long on this server. NOT to mention the fact that like most of us, Jos has a life outside of the cantr world.. *don't pass out from the shock  ) No one can expect Jos to sit around in front of the computer day in and day out trying to get things back up and running. I bet that Jos is working as hard as possible with everything else going on in everyday life, so how about we give credit where credit is due and stop complaining that cantr is not up and running when we want it to be. Ok I have said all I am gonna say at the moment..

Just an update:

- the wiki is back up
- the webzine is back up
- all mailing lists are back up

The game itself appears fully functional now, including the clock, but before opening it up I want to make sure I did not forget anything. We are currently verifying whether the latest bug fix works or not. If it does I will open the game soon.

Note that all admin stuff I am doing either early in the morning or late in the evening. This means that between every step there is a whole day or night, which makes the process very slow. I apologise for this. But we are getting very close now to full functionality.
