how are you going to Roleplay the game crash?

Postby jarco » Wed Mar 11, 2009 8:59 am

I think I myself will not roleplay the game crash at all. My characters do not know of it (the world cant crash) so I think it shouldn't be roleplayed.

But I wander if I am the only one who forgot some things that I roleplayed before the crash and will have to rp some amnesia or something.

Also I assume there will be more chars dying soon because of people stopping to play with the crash.

I just got the feeling that I will not be able to right away look from the perspective of my chars anymore.

This is not really going to be an issue: the game will be as you left it before the crash, so there is no amnesia ...

I think he means -he- forgot what he thought/felt. That's not recorded. Words might be eternal, but how our characters felt saying them is now in the dustbin of far memory.

Indeed Doug. I think the feel of many characters is gone. Especially for players like me who just came back to play a few weeks.

Jos, I think that somebody should get a message on character list for every player about not roleplaying the break in game. Game crash is only in player's memory, not their characters.

Worst case scenario, if anyone feels the need to roleplay the crash, they should just treat it like when they sleep for a long time. Although I agree it would be best if no one did.

Don't sell yourself short though. I'm sure most of us will get back into the swing of things fairly quickly.

A long, long, long time ago in a far away land named Cantr, there was a huge problem at the end of every real life month. I believe we exceeded the bandwidth and the site went down until the first of the next month. I may be getting the technicalities wrong, but there was a short span where the site going down was predictable.

The big difference here was that all projects continued to be worked on and your character still needed to be fed.

I did start to role play this. I evenmade a law that as the real world month came closer and closer, everyone must switch to a long term project so they could be productive throughout the "blackout". I encouraged everyone to stock up on food for the week of hibernation. Sometimes we role play glitches, sometimes we don't.

Keep debating if its even worth 'coming back'. ONLY have 6 characters 3 or 4 of which I know might 'harm' the area about them if they were to just 'suddenly die' or sleep forever. (Also have 'amnesia' myself)

Those are rather active/important to the community they are in so it might cause a few players/characters to 'become upset'. Its bothersome, after the game crashed I didn't care. Dudel went about doing other stuff as he's done his WHOLE life. Yes a few characters I REALLY want to know 'whats up' but at the end... I REALLY don't care either. They are JUST characters to me, something most of you don't seem to grasp.

As for RPing the 'glitch/breakdown' that would depend on if another has stated something. If another character in 'my area' decides to 'play along' the so be it, I'll 'join the fun'. However, none of my characters are going to be the 'instigator' in this instance. Even if one could REALLY use it to his advantage. ;)

Maybe I'm strange, or just mentally weird or something, but each of my characters is a part of my personality, which I roleplay to....keep me spry, as it were. Therefore, if one of them died, I'd be crushed. (I'd get over it, but it'd still be bad.)

Quite the opposite, Black, I think you're one of the few that 'gets it'. We can all act anal about what our characters 'would actually have experienced' (basically nothing), or look at the truth, which is we all stopped playing for ages and things HAVE changed. Roleplaying, fundamentally, is about players not characters, and using characters as utterly disconnected mannequins does none of us any favours.

I'm going to wake up from a very bad nightmare.

I tried to go through a door and used my key, but when I got through I was still outside, and then the door just disappeared, and I knew I was dreaming but the dream just went on and on and I couldn't wake up and it felt like forever....

And then life will go on.

I kinda...er, don't remember much of what happened before the crash. lol. Hopefully I can get back into playing the game, not sure... actually, with the cantr crash, I've spent more time in school and almost to 11pm, which is great. :)

^^' I don't know... we'll see what happens.. gotta remember XD

Wow this totally reminds me of some IM lyrics (don't laugh kronos XD)

I see the doors that I can't open
Adding locks from time to time
When it opens something blocks me
And I'm asking myself why
Did I take the step I wanted
Was it just a state of mind?
I feel sorry for myself
every time I close my eyes.

Why would I laugh XD I love "In front of me" ;););)

What's behind the door I wonder
Must be brighter than my past
Will I feel a little different
When i take myself across
Was it really worth the turning?
Was it just a foolish task
I feel sorry for myself
when i open up my eyes...
Winning
