Helicopers??

Postby lordcooper » Mon Feb 02, 2009 11:17 pm

Do they exist in cantr?

You can build engines for them, but I can't find a helicopter in the vehicle listing.

No, they don't exist ... but they did exist one day ... if I remember correctly, I actually flew with them in the test environment or something :) ... but they were only tested, never actually properly implemented. So we're talking very early in the game now ;) ...

If we're looking to make the world smaller, aircraft would certainly do that, at least for the "haves."

I have fantasised about playing the only character to own a helicopter, and the god-like status it would give me. Muahahah!

Edit: by which I mean, the god-like status that it would give my character. LOL.

Programming wise, it would be really quite easy to implement flying, I think. It's just like sailing, but without borders :) ... But perhaps we should not rush this.

Imagine Adam Brinks having the only chopper in Cantr. Death from above! Might as well add machine guns to it while on it.

Airships > Helicopters

Airships could dock together, which would really be the only way for it to reasonably discourage invisible air pirates with giant machine crossbows and the trademarked "Adam Brinks Clone Launcher".

Plus would they be able to land in any town or only ones with landing pads? and what would happen to all the poor peoples if/when it ran out of fuel!

There would be a landing plot, a bit like a harbour for larger ships. probably including start and landing-procedures like (un)docking.
I think ...

Exactly ... you can only "dock" your helicopter if there is a suitable "harbour" - we just need to change terminology, but the idea is identical.

It would be great for the economy if air pirates requires fuel. Well, at least some people would be left alive to work as slaves.

Maybe we should spread rumors that people can build helicopters after making a series of stupid and unreasonable quests just for the fun of it.
Oh, and then we actually make helicopters avaiable in Cantr III but never state it in the wiki. Oh, and we will deny it until people discover. "There is no helicopter." :)

Cookie to who gets that reference.

There was a really good suggestion from Milo for balloons and zeppelins. It would be great to have an alternative for land travel without stopping in every town on a road.

Would be cool, but it would make things even harder for the poor.

It would be kind of weird if only aircraft required fuel and cars etc don't...

THe main thing that I find weird is that we can still build helicopter engines...

Yeah, I like that :-) ... We shouldn't start with helicopters anytime soon, but the zeppelin almost makes sense in the current game already, doesn't it?
