I've said this many times. People are really falling for the suggestive thinking.

I'm not a progD, but I'm going to once again theorize...

"Beyond repair" means gone. There is no such thing as an item you can pick up and that can degrade, but that you can't repair, and certainly it doesn't happen with age.

Incidentally, a message I got, not on a road. Probably because I had too many tools, and didn't keep up with repairing them:

1322-4: Your stone hammer is damaged beyond repair.

That character does not have an unreparable stone hammer.

I also still say that this degredation mechanic is perfectly good. For all the difference my opinion makes on the matter.

I think the game just called you damaged beyound repair. Kiddin'. I received a message like that some time ago, like "You are attacked by . You loose X%". All I could say was "Gee, I didn't know dots were so dangerous. *pee-wee's laugh*".

In fact it's technically possible to make an item degrade and be unrepairable, but I don't think they have any like that.

Why did this ancient topic get resurrected?

I suppose that it isn't ancient to me, is why. :D

Actually, I thought that it may have been something ancient that might have been corrected and so I pointed it out to assure those that are interested.....that it hadn't.
