The might of the PS2

Postby g1asswa1ker » Thu Apr 01, 2004 9:28 pm

Check this craziness...http://arrakis.ncsa.uiuc.edu/ps2/
Imagethey're all Linked together 2 combine Computing Power of all, 70 Damn PS2s is a Damn Powerfull Setup! my Dream Setup right there, but to much work an doe for that. now how Much total HDD space is that? roughly 2,800GB witch is what? 2.8Terabit or somthin? Plus 70 memCards=560MB in Cards. Cost of PS2 Linux Kits-$14,000, PS2s Cost-$12,600, MemCard Cost-$1750, Grand Total-Roughly $28,350, Plus Tax and Network Equipment, plus whatever else they needed 2 do this. after Taxes an Exchange it'd be Rounf $45,000 Where I live, an Prolly round $35,000 US
Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

Impressive but that is a very costly way to get a Gigaflop.

You need to go to Sam's Club or IBM rather and buy in bulk.

Blue Gene/L only cost 28 cents per gigaflop

No, but I subscribe to PSM (Playstation 2 Magazine) which is much better than OPM in my opinion.

The "teamed" the PS/2 like a stagecoach.

Instead of 2 by 1 or 2 by 2 or even 2 by 4 they did 8 by 8, 16 by 16, 32 by 32.

32 by 32 was the limit for the path and the cross harnessing.
