A headache of doom and gloom

Postby InsaneIrony » Sat Jan 03, 2009 3:22 am

Cantr is giving me a headache right now. X_x Or, more specifically, one of my characters in trouble is giving me a headache. I'm sure this happens to a lot of other people when their characters face doom and gloom... What do yall do about it? O_o
My first instinct is to just ignore the game again for a long bit of forever so the character in peril will probably die without me seeing it or something. >_> But I don't know if some crazy rp will get my character out of it, or if they're doomed to limbo or death.
Gwuh. I don't want to think about it. :(

use it to role play, either you get out or die but it will stay with you as a great role playing experience. good luck.

Haha, did you rp your char as kind of a dumb person?

Noooo, don't ignore them!! RP it to the best of your ability.

Just as you wouldn't fall asleep were you facing imminent death, neither should your character. IMHO.

It's all part of the game -- the player of every character deserves a proper response to their RP, so just as you wouldn't want your character to be murdered with bad RP, do not give the player of your character's enemy a bad RP experience either.

Just roll with it, and allow the situation to progress as it would normally without your emotions as a player getting in the way.

SEX!

That's the BEST way to safe your character. 100% GUARANTEED.
Unless your char is male... then you're doomed!

Oh hey, once I had a male character who got locked up and he ejaculated in the guard's eye. The guard was so disgusted that he let him go. (Well, they used to be friends in the past, I suppose a stranger would've killed him.)

If you're having a tough time, it's good to talk about it with someone who doesn't have any characters involved, or in towns where they might get involved in the near future. Not like you'd have to go into specifics, like "my character is locked up in building X in town Y by character Z" but "my character got locked up by this one guy and it's stressing me out".

Wtf o.o Looool. Well, I guess it would help if the one who locked your male char up is gay.

And yeah, talking usually helps. A friend of me had a char locked up and raped and he was like "She won't get out anyway, I'll make her die", so I asked him if he'd like it if he locked someone up and that person commited suicide. Then he understood that it isn't nice.

Well, there are a few metagamers out there. If you get into their grip, I would actually advice to not RP at all, as they thrive on the attention. You have basically no chance of surviving other than to join them and even then you're never getting out of their sight.

I mean, it's alright to have a couple of violent/evil chars, but having 10-15 of them is just... too much.

I know exactly who you mean. I've not heard the term "metagamers" before, but I would label them killers or griefers. They can very quickly unbalance a player base when rampaging in large, well equipped groups. IMHO.

I think it's lame when people don't rp when they get caught. I find it hard to kill a good rp'er and I think this applies to many people. I'd rather let them go than let them die (although keeping them as a slave would be the best option for my character). People who lock people up just to get kicks out of rp are different from the ones who gather a gang armed to the teeth and kill people in their sleep. People like that are not looking for a reaction, they're just looking for loot and recruits.

Seko, trust me... you have nothing to worry about when it comes to killing charries. Your RP is good enough that the players don't care all that much :)

Dudel is usualy a 'meta-gamer' but the term is being used incorrectally. 'Meta-gamers' are only those who have the time, resources, and energy to play contantly. This may cause an 'unbalance' but a true gamer of any type does not play to ruin the fun of anothers. A true gamer players to enrich his own experience and if you apply that to Cantr means quality RP.

Dudel thinks many words ugly and 'meta-gamer' is one.

ALSO I say Keep playing, if they do die then you can be a part of imaginary history. If they don't die then you can still write it.

Why frenchfisher, have I killed someone you played? I can't remember any names at the moment.
