Just restating what I meant:
I want radio's to be able to work outside. I don't care about vehicles, or on a person.

I would like a person to be able to transport a radio however. For example, build a radio in one town, load it up on a car with it being inoperable while in the car, and be moved to another town where it can work after being taken off the vehicle.

Well, I have always thought of Loudspeakers so that someone could connect to a radio and send messages to the people on the public area. This could be a way of receiving messages directly on the public area, but it would be quite a invasion of privacy. Isn't there a way to make like, headphones? So only the one with them plugged would hear it?

You could make portable radios that only recieved?
That way you could keep one outside and get the message but you would have to get to a radio on the inside to respond?

Question: New to radio's do you need to know their transever number or something to send the message? If so then this might not work so well. I dont know I rejoind after radios...I think.

I think there's a reason in RL that radios were generally kept inside: the elements. They just wouldn't stand up to all that rain, sand, etc. Also, members of the general public wouldn't exactly want to hear the next episode of "Humming with the Pro" or whoever "accidentally" left the radio on while having sex while they're trying to peacefully farm potatoes, or whatnot.

I believe if you look at it in RL, there was always somebody who had to stay indoors to watch the radio, but they were compensated for this, and the duties were rotated.

Perhaps there might be some kind of compromise, whereby the reciept of a transmission can cause some kind of signal, maybe a flashing light or a beeping sound to be emitted outside for everybody to hear.

In real life there were windows so if a person wanted to listen to the radio, they could hear signals outside....

We could just have it so that radio messages are saved onto a transcript note or something. I just don't like the idea of people sending out radio signals and the signals being missed and it's soooo boring to stay inside and just wait for a signal, or even work on a project and I think this seriously affects the game in a very bad way. Many newspawns are spawned and have no clue wtf to do because barely anyone in a town are outside.

There are just so many ways to fix the radio problem IN GAME. I have a character devoted to listening tot he radio, and it's not that bad. But still, people need to clue in and find solutions in game. It's actually pretty simple.

An active radio operator is a pretty rare thing to find. Not only is it a rarity, but it's a luxury. Luxuries are expensive. Therefore, pay the man, damnit! And pay him good. Keep them fed, with good food. Get them some good clothes. Have people visit them inside. Place radios in popular rooms, so they have people to speak to sometimes. Keep them as informed as possible as to the ongoing events outside. And best of all, relieve them every once and a while.

The funny thing with my radio operator is that there's usually more conversation over the radio than there is outside in the main part of town. The only benefit to being outside is that you see who comes and goes.
