What about there being little 'bullets' (or whatever you call those things) in front of the time of every event?

Every 'kind' of event would be a different color.

Attacking would be red.
Talking would be green.
Talking privately would be white.
Hunting would be gray (or a darker red).
Dragging would be yellow.
etc. etc.

That would make skim reading even more difficult - you'd have more information to take in (you'd have to process the colour of the bullet, what it means, and then decide if you want to read it). Just greying things out makes skipping over them much more easy.

Arlequin: There was a plan to move over entirely to CSS to allow for different themes etc. Not sure if that got anywhere though.

If multiple styles is too much at the moment, then we should at least put important events in bold. That can't be too much trouble, and will make a world of difference in busy places.
