Lost Cantr History
I know alot of history in Cantr has been lost. I was wondering if a lot of that history be added somewhere for the player's enjoyment. Obviously no body could use that information but I'm sure there is a lot of newer people who would be interested in what happened before and some of us curious people to actually know the full truth of the event from other player's perspective.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

I don't agree and yes there are a lot of characters who don't remember a lot of history and those that do only know from their own point of view which could be distorted. I think it would interesting to learn what happen before or to know the what from another characters perspective.
How many characters are still around from early years of Drojf and Krif? I think the only one would be Maynard Leeward and I'm sure he doesn't know everything.
How many people are still around from teh early years in Blojt and remember what happened? Very few and they don't know the whole truth or what exactly happened.
I say we just do this as an a little entertainment to see where Cantr has come from and where it has gone and where it will be going.

Info getting lost and forgotten is what starts legends and myths...I don't think anything should be done to "improve" the history of anyplace, if things get mixed up IC then that's how it goes. And I think there are more chars alive that know the "history" of a place then what people may think, perssonally I have chars that know the history of Lad, Siom, and Krif going back to about 230 or so, of course not "everything", but no ones knows everything.

I wholeheartedly support the creation of historical documents in character, and certainly feel this should be encouraged in any way possible.
However, with that said, I also like the idea of an outside analysis by the players of the development and history of societies in Cantr II. As Richard has said, there are undoubtedly things which will not be remembered in character, and there are things which could be interesting when presented from a non-character point of view. Also, different societies which have evolved across different regions of the game could be contrasted to each other.

I am really ambivalent on this issue. In general, I strongly prefer histories to be written in character instead of out of character. It is much cooler to travel and find history books, or to find old newspapers, etc. than it is to know all this already beforehand. But on the other hand, discussing what is going on can seriously increase the fun of playing, and is one of the reasons to have this forum.
I try to think back to the old lego game I played, which was the predecessor of this game, and is still my main example. Sometimes we would gather together around the lego, but hardly touch anything at all, as we were too deeply involved in discussions about what exactly was going on - how the states we had resembled real life politics, or extensive analysis why the economy would not develop too well. These discussions were really fun, even though they were typically out of character. On the other hand, the most fun was to write analysis from an in character perspective. For example, at some point we actually wrote a joint 'scientific' work on anarchy, with many different perspectives that were somewhat odd would they have been in real life, but fitted perfectly well in the history of the lego world. Also some newspapers tended to be more analysis than just plain fact. So, it would be nice and interesting to discuss some developments on the forum boards, but it would be even cooler to find some book in some lost library in the Cantr world, which describes an analysis of the different constitutions of a number of cities - just to give some example. And if we really create a page with historical facts, people will read these too early, when they hardly got a feeling for the game yet, and they will not be as much tempted to write them in character, I fear.
So, the general conclusion would be, I think, for me, that we should not have a dedicated page for this, but should still discuss also in character things on the boards (especially when it's older, or abstract, it is not as bad - I don't want to hear the newest details sometimes, as my characters are trying so hard to figure them out
... e.g. I really don't want to know what is going on in Lad before my char found out, or how Brunoi is doing, etc.). And the main emphasis should be on writing such stuff in character. Have one of your characters become a historian or scholar or plain journalist. That is what we need
...

CANTR II: A NOVEL
That would be so cool.
I will probably be designing a final fantasy type Cantr RPG involving the history of Cantr as the storyline, and the characters of the "real" cantr being the characters in the game. But for now the project is put off because I cant use the world map in the game hehe.
