O' course sir, any more and the poor John Bulls'd have to sleep standing up *he laughs* And I reckon, although my lads have discipline, they will not manage sleeping on their feet in a squall. *he steadies himself against the gentle roll of the ship* swell is picking up a bit... *he suddenly turns round and yells to his sergeant* Make ready!
*30 musket locks click into a primed position and *
Present!
*30 muzzles are aimed at empty sea, the polished oak stocks cool on the cheeks of the men holding them.*
Fire!
*a smart crack and cough is heard as they all discharge within good time. A small chaos and eddie is witnessed in the sea where their shots land, and the deck is covered with a thin layer of smoke, which quickly dissapates on the breeze. The sergeant looks to his officer for instruction.*
*Crosshair nods at him and the men fall out, assuming their roles of sentry duties on the deck and below in the magazine*
*He then turns to the captain and gives a wry smile* "I'll warrant that they could turn any quarterdeck into a charnel house with a single volley, Sir."

The captain watches the display with little emotion escaping his face, hiding the fact whether he is impressed or not. "I suppose it'll do. Have them practice two hours a day without loaded guns. We need to conserve our ammunition. Also, we'll play out a war game to get our marines in shape. I want 15 of the marines play the defender, the rest the boarders. Also, increase rations by 25%."
He watches another salvo of bullets sprayed out at the sea. "Have we gotten the shipment of specialized rounds? For muskets and cannon?"

Aye sir. *he nods* I was speaking to the purser today. Musket cartridges, Chain shot, grape, Canister, Roundshot and of course Powder. I've two down guarding the magazine as usual, sir.

We have top of the line ornamental cannons that can rip enemy hull in a matter of seconds. This ship and everything was on it was specially made to be fearsome, grand, and effective at the same time. *Smiles and turns to Crosshair.* Good job, Lieutenant Crosshair and I expect you to keep it up. Have we any other problems, if not we shall set course to the Loire.

She might be small in size sir, but I'm sure she could pack a punch even to a ship o' the line. Now I remember When I was on the old Ajax out of Gibraltar... a seventy-four... she would rip anything in her path out of the water, so she would. *he chuckles* And she had a few more marines, aye... about 150 i remember.
*he nods to the Sergeant and takes a piece of paper from him, reading it* Must go and inspect the men's bunks sir. *he turns on his heal and walks smartly below deck*

*Paces up and down the length of the ship, observing the sailors at work, occasionally nudging or rebuking seamen into other jobs, and glancing at approvingly at the marines' practice.* Those men are to be your example, men - they are disciplined soldiers, and since this is a military vessel, you are expected to be no less. When the time comes, you will be required to defend this vessel and assist with the boarding of the enemy ship. Fight like you've never fought before, and show those marines that even common sailors like yourselves can defeat such an enemy as we face. *Gives a false laugh, raising his voice* I've heard it said the the sailors on the Loire are better warriors than our own trained military forces -- well, this is our opportunity to show them we Englishmen can fight like anybody else - and I'm sure that each of you would rather die than be shown up by a Frenchman.

*Moves over the Captain* Captain, I've been talking to the sailors, riling them up, and I can feel that they're getting used to the idea of fighting aside the marines. I feel confident we'll be able to overrun the Loire with a full assault if all else fails -- and if you give your consent, sir, I wouldn't mind leading such a charge myself *touches his saber*

I expect our sailors to fight alongside the marines, so good work Officer. As for leading a charge, I already promised the first charge to be lead by that boy from earlier. I mean, he'll be the first on the enemy ship, our Lieutenant will be in command of course. I suppose I can send you in to perform clean up and to storm the decks.
Hm... are there any vessels in the area? Any kind, pirates, traders?
