Project not being worked on...

Okay, I'm a new player, so forgive me if this is an easily fixed problem. I am trying to make a stone axe, and I have all the supplies, stone cleaver, sinew and wood. Everything I need, and the project is not being worked on. It's not a 0.0%, it simply is just being ignored. Anyone else have this problem?

Have you lodged your participation in the project (the P surrounded by a square on the projects page) and put all the materials onto the project (using the compass-looking thing on your inventory page)?
